Saw it reported somewhere last week that up to 30 some top D1 bb teams could be exposed as cheaters when the FBI/Louisville probe is fully made public. Any doubt that Kansas will be among them?

Any doubt Calipari and Kentucky is amongst them? The guy put 2 programs on probation. However, don’t expect the NCAA to do anything if he’s caught again. After all, they already put him in the HOF after all that.

Calipari has never been accused of cheating by NCAA right? Why are you blaming him for what others did? If he was at fault he would have been out of college by now. At least suspended I’m sure. He’s been looked at closely so obviously he’s clean.

EVERYONE IS CHEATING!!!

By saying that I mean there is probably not one Lilly white program in D1 that is as pure and clean as the powdered snow. Well except the institutions at West Point, Annapolis, & Fort Collins.

The difference is there are some institutions and some "HOF" coaches that are hypocritical cheaters and this is made possible by in part a corrupt media. Rick Pitino was dirty and has been for years, yet he was in the club & won at a Blue Blood program and the 4 letter gave him cover til it became obvious (FBI). The same cover as was given to Tobacco Road with football and basketball (and ROY WILLIAMS) and its also obvious.. The NCAA will not hurt their own bottom line.

IMO In football, the only school to ever get a just penalty for systemic cheating has been SMU. There are other forms of cheating which IMO are worse (see Sandusky State, Baylor, and now Michigan State), but nothing in terms of punishment is really ever done. Miami twice has proven the NCAA won't do fair punishments for blatant financial cheating. Ohio State showed it too under Senator Tressel (yeah espn gave him that name).

The bottom line is college sports is a tax exempt corrupt business with under the table payments gone rampant, worthless created majors, and the only real beneficiaries in the end are the coaches, ADs, institutional & conference administrators, and the select few student athletes who are talented and fortunate enough to make a living playing the sport in the pros.

My advice is Know and Realize what you're watching. If 8 of the top 16 schools ranked by the NCAA are named by the FBI as cheater as Pete Thammel has indicated, then maybe something changes. For that to happen there will be a lot of people get BURNED. Sometimes a Forest Fire will make for better growth in the future.

As it stands now, major college football and basketball are unpaid minor league systems for the NFL and NBA. I'd love to see it get shook up and a reset button hit. The ideal reformed result would include random USADA drug testing with a 2 strike tops rule.

The chances of all that happening are not that high imo. Then again if enough people get indicted and the proof is ironclad, it could be what burst the balloon Fast. The sports balloon is bursting now, but it's been a slow bleed. I hope this bombshell happens.

Apparently you forgot he was the coach of UMass and Memphis. Both were placed on probation after he bolted out of town.

I’m sorry was he found to be guilty of major infractions that brought penalties directly onto him? I missed that if so. I know coaches get booted for infractions they do. Like the idiot that’s coaching at Auburn. Wait he’s back.

So it’s all coincidence that he happened to be the coach while recruiting infractions were going on, yet had no idea? Ok lol

To really clean it up, there has to be a big earthquake and some big names have to be held accountable. Anything less will ensure that the mess continues. The payoffs by the shoe and uniform companies speaks volumes about how big this really is. Not sure how this should be handled. But suggest that high officials from these companies need to go to the slam. Likewise with those who took the money or arranged the payoff.
Also, believe that coaches' contracts should include a clause making them responsible for adhering to the rules - NCAA, criminal conduct, etc. So they can't shift blame to an assistant.
Also, it's time for college presidents to rise up and take actual control (have it now but don't exercise it) of the NCAA and straighten it out. To me it's obvious that the present NCAA staff will not and/or cannot do it. Condi Rice was appointed to head up a commission, I believe. You can be sure any action will be pushed passed the Big Dance. I believe action should be taken before selection Sunday.

I’m not passing judgement based on opinions from internet handles. So you can’t provide me factual evidence of inquiries that Calipari is guilty of anything?

I should have posted that both were all on Camby and Rose and was not Cal's fault. However, Cal did pay the price for Camby and Rose having someone else take a placement test in their place.

Cal came out of UMass fine. He got New Jersey to pay him $15 million guaranteed for only 3 years work on a 5 year deal. That's $15 million. UMass was paying him $1 million per.

And yes I'm sure Cal knew Camby was getting money early and from an agent. I will say Camby was the real unsung hero in that. Camby paid the school back ALL the tournament money they had to forfeit and pay back to the NCAA. No other athlete has ever done that.

guaranteed Kansas will be one of the schools nailed!!!!!!! Book it. Those clowns, along with people like Kentucky and UNC and Syracuse, have been cheating for a longggggggggg time.

Let me guess. Calipari set up the cheatfest then drove both players to take the test. Then from what I heard he bought them two “These two can’t pass this test” happy meals at McDonalds

Cal is under a huge microscope at Lexington. Look, I strongly dislike sUcK and am not a fan of Paypal Cal. One thing is for certain. He is no Eddie Sutton who almost put UK in the death penalty.

Not soo fast my friend. Schools like Kentucky don’t get punished. Coaches like Calipari are made for them. Cheating only hurts the Memphis’s and UMass’s of the world.

i'm not sure what microscope you think Calipari is under. NCAA microscope????? Please!! Those clowns have knowingly allowed many schools to cheat.
What I'm waiting on is the FBI hammer to come down. Clowns like Calipari and Pitino are going to be burning good money if the FBI paid any attention to their shenanigans.

They need to place restrictions on AAU recruitment. It provides a perfect vehicle to launder money and influence.

For the folks in the know, what is the process of getting shoe and uniform contracts? Is it open, is there a bid?

Their needs to be a mechanism to alas sure coaches aren't merely sub-contracted agents of shoe companies.

No, but he is under a Kentucky microscope. UK fans EXPECT to go to the Final Four every year. Remember, this school chased off Bear Bryant to focus on basketball. Football at UK is an oxymoron like clean coal and jumbo shrimp.
