I cut the chord when it looked like no football. Been using Roku and really like it. What is the cheapest option for getting SEC football if it happens?

I use Sling. Their basic package is $30 a month. It has ESPN and the deuce. You pay $5 more for the sports package and get SEC network. With those 3 you get most SEC games. That’s the cheapest I’ve found as of a couple of years ago.I haven’t looked around recently.

i've tried them all. Hulu Live, Sling, YouTubeTV, and one of the newer ones. can't remember. Hulu Live is the best to me. easiest to use, and has everything you want. also gives you access to ESPN+.

I used Hulu two years ago

And sling last year. I’m going back to Hulu this year. It is much easier to flip to different games with Hulu.

I just had to re-do the math when YouTubeTV raised their prices again. Sling is definitely the cheapest option. Get the Orange lineup plus the sports package. It’s more expensive than it used to be, but still the cheapest option out there. I haven’t used Hulu Live (it’s more expensive), but it wouldn’t surprise me if their interface is better than Sling’s (theirs isn’t great). But here’s the thing - I don’t watch games on the Sling app. I use the ESPN app on my AppleTV and you can use yours on Roku. It usually works great. At least that’s been my experience.

Pro tip: if you want to really enjoy life, upgrade to an AppleTV. The ESPN app there can play up to four games/shows simultaneously in split screen or picture-in-picture. I hosted a college football watch party at my house outside of DC the weekend we beat LSU 37-7 a few years back. Had the AppleTV hooked up to a projector. It was great to have our game taking up the big square but having three other games on smaller squares for other folks to watch (albeit without sound - our game had that privilege).

Did not realize you could add sports package for $10. Good points

I have a short throw projector now in my bedroom and have been using a Roku ultra with it for YouTubeTV/Netflix/Amazon/Hulu. I actually have an apple tv 4k box I'm not using (we have yet to set up the living room tv with it), so I'm going to change the roku to the apple tv. Hope that works out, I'm really looking forward to split screening games!

One thing to consider, re: CBS

[See edit below.]

I stand by all this, but I just saw that our game with LSU will be the 2:30 CBS game, which reminds me of something I forgot to mention above. Sling doesn't carry CBS, so you have to figure out the random week(s) we play the 2:30 game. If you haven't used your free trial for YouTubeTV or another streaming service that streams CBS, I'd recommend using that free week trial just for the LSU game. If you don't have any free trials remaining, you can always just sign up for their service for the month and then immediately cancel. That one month will be more expensive than normal (since you're paying for a more expensive service - YouTubeTV or whatever instead of Sling), but that's the beauty of these streaming services. It's month-to-month, so I can just pay for YouTubeTV for one month and go right back to paying less for Sling.

Of course, depending on where you are, you might get CBS on a normal antenna, in which case you don't have to worry about this.

ETA: Looks like you can subscribe to CBS All Access for an addition $7-10/month to get live streaming of the CBS game. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I'm currently waiting to hear back from customer support for confirmation. Again, the benefit of these services is that I can just pay the extra $10 that month to get the CBS game and then cancel. Bonus, it looks like CBS All Access has a free trial, too. Saving that trial for LSU week.

If any of you are 247 subscribers and looking for CBS options you’re covered. It’s included with the subscription.

Or .... instead going through a bunch of trouble for game, buy an antenna for your tv. You'll get CBS HD and be 2-3 plays ahead of your streaming buddy.
