Talk on 1620 is he may have signed with an agent. Not certain if that is what it is. I think it was mentioned in another source.
If they have to forfeit previous wins this year, does that mean we get a 5th win and could still make a bowl game?
He should have went to an SEC school or to USC, then nothing would happen to him, no suspension, nothing. SEC gets away with anything involving $.
Was this family friend an agent? Does that person have ties to the University? Is that person a booster? Coach? Employee? What was the purpose of the 'loan'? I'm sure there's more to the story, and I'd bet he had some help in drafting his post.
The big question I have is this, if it was cash and not a traceable deposit into an account, how can they prove that hey did pay back in full? What type of repayment methods did he use? Check in the mail? Cash in the mail?
If this was all cash transactions then you know the parties involved knew this was breaking rules. If it was a deposit into an account via a check or wire transfer, then proving the dollar amount can be proven easily since they can trace where the money came from and if there are more than one records tieing cash payments from the same source multiple times.
I know when I cash large sums of money it gets reported to the federal level. So much money are we talking about here?

If someone wants to spend their money to influence where a kid goes to school, good for them. Grandparents do this "Sweetie, tell you what, if you go to State U I will buy you a car"
Parents do it "Tell you what son, if you stay in state, I will get you that car you wanted"
If a super smart kid was given 5k from a scientist to attend MIT would they make him sit out of classes and experiments until he paid it back?
My thoughts too. 5-star recruit just happens to make a new friend before leaving for college and that friend just happens to give him a "loan".
I also roll my eyes at these hypocritical suspensions when every school, coach and the NCAA are money whores. Nevertheless, the sentence "a family friend I've known since the summer before my freshman year at OSU" is comedy gold. What a coincidence to meet a new and generous "friend"! I remember the summer before my freshman year of college, people we're lining up to loan me money (yeah right).
Hate to say it, but that isn't happening. Even if they have to vacate wins (which they won't), it wouldn't happen until next year at earliest, which does NU absolutely no good at that point.
It sounds like it was self-reported by OSU so nothing there. The wins vacated stuff comes from when a school goes out of its way to coverup an issue. Sounds like OSU was upfront about it. Supposedly, Young admits to a loan from "a friend" but paid it back so he might or might not be gone for an extended period of time.
This is just the kind of stuff the new NCAA regulations (in 2020-2021 ?) are aimed at stopping. It's impossible to monitor the out of control BS by agents - just have to make sure it's reported once a school finds out.
Young supposedly says he paid it back. If he did, nothing. If he didn't, he's done. Anyone that still thinks CF is an amateur sport is just fooling themselves. Money, money, and money. And it's all over - not just a few schools.

Wrong. Wins are vacated when there is ineligible competition. It does not matter if the violation is self-reported.
Ignorance. Check out USC losing 30 scholarships in 2010 or Mississippi getting whacked last year over, among other things, cash payments to football prospects.
If this was really much ado about nothing, why is it just coming to light now? Someone saw something and I’m guessing it is not good. after all, it is THE Ohio State cheaters. I’m sure they will sweep this under the rug, maybe it is a bigger fish than we think it is.
Jay Bilas would have a valid point, if Chase hadn’t come out on Twitter and admit, that he did in fact violate NCAA rules. And I’m pretty sure his admission wasn’t coerced. I don’t think student athletes suspected of violations are locked in a room for 24 hours and interrogated.
So a kid can play at NU after skipping practices, having a child porn charge, being caught possessing marijuana at team facilities, being caught exposing himself to female sports teams, but a kid can't play at OSU because he took money his senior year of HS?
