Dang. He was on the country music awards show just 3 or 4 weeks ago. Seemed healthy given his age.
Damn Covid. Charley owned a small piece of the Texas Rangers and was always at the games. This one sucks.
Charley Pride made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on January 7, 1967. His record was released without his picture on it, for obvious reasons. When he came out on stage, the audience, fully expecting a white face attached to that voice, was speechless to say the least. You’ll have to do some research for the rest of the story.
What a man. I highly recommend watching the interview he did on AXS with Dan Rather a few years ago.

He was at the awards show a month ago. First I'd heard of him being sick, but I wonder if he might have contracted Covid at the show.
