Just saw a coach has resigned at midseason. With the challenges of covid as well as the stress of coaching in the world today do you think there will be a big turnover after the season?

Big turnover every season. But the way parents act and the stresses on coaches now I could see a mass exodus from teaching and coaching. When I first started coaching in NC back in 1998 the summer clinic had tons of applicants on the job board. Now you see so many openings is alarming.

I don't see any occupation or job immune from the effects of Covid. I said not long after this plague started that every human in the US will feel effects from it. IMO its the root cause of a lot of empty jobs whether or not the cause is justified or not.

Teaching used to be fun when I started back in 2000. Now it is not. Covid, masks, Canvas classes, teaching expectations beyond 4pm, kids behavior has changed for even worse since they were mostly home for a year, parents and fans, everything is crazy tough on teachers and coaches now. More than ever. After 21.5 years, I'm moving on to a new career next month. Can't wait for the change. So yes, I believe teacher burnout will lead to even more coaching jobs open overall this off season.
