Are they a result of the officials not calling the game properly?
They were a result of improving the game. Still no answer from you though. The college game also added a 3rd ref a few years ago. Should that be eliminated as well. Why do you think that was done? So more guys could be refs?

Any adjustments to the game are fine. I personally want to see the international goal-tending added. I want the circle under the basket removed.
But as for the making rule changes because the officials cannot discern between a flop and legitimate knock down is not a change I want to see.
If the official cannot determine if a player flops now, how will he do so with an additional rule. By changing the rule, you are asking the official to still make a judgement call, flop or legitimate knock down. It makes no since if the official makes the right call.

I agree in the Intl goal-tending rule. I just think flopping cheapens the game and it allows for "fake" fouls to affect the game. Truly, I would eliminate the charge/block call altogether. It's rarely called correctly either way. If the defender initiates contact with offensive player who has the ball and is driving to the basket call the foul on the defender who initiated the contact. Not let the defender run into the offensive player and fall down. That's not defense and it's not basketball.

Players have gotten bigger & bigger while floor size has stayed same, jamming up space. Net, for more a free flowing game, either go to 4 players per side or limit total height of players on floor to 30' per team or 6' average.

With all the TV TO's, limit team called TO's to 1/H.

Shorten HT.

Make the rim diameter smaller so it's harder to score, particularly for the 6'10" goons. Shooting would be even more important. I mean isn't that the game?
