Well, scarlet, there are these little things called ponies that I enjoy.
I read the threads and responses every day, including the recent cage match between Kong and dingle. You know me, I don't like to pick sides with two guys that I like and "generally" (lol) respect.
I was going to give my thoughts on the Spring game, but I thought there was so much good content among so many guys, I just decided to pass on my thoughts.
Having said that.
I was very impressed with the improvement of the overall team speed as much as anything. As I've stated multiple times, I am not surprised at how much improvement virtually every returning player would achieve now that a truly competent S & C and nutrition program and a legitimate player evaluation have been in place.
I have even seen some marked improvement from Bryce Benhart, and kudos to him! I felt I needed to acknowledge that since I've been pretty tough on the young man.
As I said I would a few months ago, next week about Wednesday I am going to post an OT: Kentucky Derby for some of the guys on here. I want to see what the guys say, and then about Friday, I'll post some of my own thoughts on the race.
Scarlet, good to see that things are still well with you. Let's hope guys like you and I get to enjoy a re-visit to 1962 when Devaney showed up and changed this program into what it later became.
As Devaney said when they asked him how many games he wanted to win in year one, he said, "I don't want to win enough games to go on probation, but I'd at least like to warrant an investigation."

Anyone know why these two people were fired? Not that it makes much difference but just curious what gets you fired these days. Were they just incompetent or did they break some rule(s)?

Not sure they were fired. One is 65 and their contracts I think expire about this time of year.
Maybe but I would guess unless there was a retirement announcement and retirement party, they likely were fired for some reason. Contracts are routinely renewed unless there are general layoffs or specific performance issues. Oh well, just curious. Not a big deal for me personally as just a fan.

It's hard for any of us to really like a horse a lot until the Post Positions are drawn and the final jockey assignments are named. I guess since this is only a once-a-year event, I could start dribbling some stuff out of Monday. By then the portal, I think, will have closed and then there's another dull time of the year for a few months.
If I see a horse on Fri-Sat-Sun at Churchill that I think has a legitimate shot at winning at 20/1 or more, I may put it on the board, and if someone wants to play it fine, if not that's fine too. Of course, nothing's guaranteed. The only guarantee is that it would be a horse I'm playing too. In all honesty, during a 3 day Derby weekend, I will likely play a dozen or more horses that are 20/1 and higher.

I posted this reply last night at 9:30. It was actually the name of a horse that just ran at Keeneland at 12:35 today. He was 12/1 in the Morning Line, there were 2 scratches and he was beaten by the 5/2 favorite but ran 2nd at 7/1.
In my limited pony betting past I used to like to bet 7-1 to 12-1 horses to show. I would watch them parade and then if there was horse I liked the looks of with those kind of odds I would throw a few bucks down usually on a show bet. Always came away ahead. That’s not exactly a scientific methodology but I had fun doing it. Love to watch the ponies run. I’m just not much of a gambler.
Nothing wrong with that approach. Sometimes a scientific approach doesn't pan out. I have a friend who bets nothing but the 4th betting choice, and he consistently makes some money doing it. Not a lot, but consistently.
Most people don't know that the highest percentage return for ALL tracks and at all levels of horse racing is 2nd-time maidens at 4/1 or less. I did the numbers years ago and it still holds true today. The second highest is adding or removing front wraps.
The main thing you accomplished was finding and then staying at your comfort level, while at the same time carving out a nice profit.
Most gamblers can't do that.

. Damn I had one 4 day trip to Vegas where I played blackjack probably 4-5 hours per day at least for 3 days and never hit a blackjack. Not one. That was when I decided to bet horses. Normally I can hold things together pretty well playing blackjack but that week was brutal. Haven’t been to Vegas in at least 7-8 years. Last trip was to Jimmy Buffet.

Yes, good to talk to you as we approach the race! All others for me are m& ms, while Kentucky Derby is the Jewel! Tomorrow going to Fonnor early & try a pick or 2! I don't get overly shook if I lose & love the anticipation much more than the results! Usually bet $50 + on this race with 3 horses, exacta s! Tomorrow is the Bosselman 75k$, I probably like the 2 outstate shippers + a local! ! The bull ring is exciting as some bigger breeds just don't fire off on it! I'll bet & run home to drink a Jim beam black with cola! Now 123 or anyone else contribute here!
