Chandler to Kentucky

[DreadLox]

Loved his work with Jimi Hendrix.

[Snarks0]

Might be a little rusty since he hasn’t played competitively in 2 years. But, definitely has the skill!! Welcome to BBN

[wardlow]

Looks like he’s going to be a player…

He put basketball and life on hold for a two year mission trip from what I understand so he has character. I’m on board!

[RoyKent]

Very nice! This dude is legit!

[Catfan2226]

And it begins...
Good addition.
First shot has been fired.

[Kantucke]

Now add Jaxson

[SemperFiCat]

Love to see it.

Just no Illinois nazis. I hate Illinois nazis.

[FtWorthCat]

Awesome news! Likely a multi-year player as well.

[LongLiveThePope]

Let’s go!

Don’t offer him any coffee or tea you heathens!

[jcmc225]

hopefully his mission didnt set him back, not playing 2 years at that stage in your growth as a player is interesting. Curious how good he’ll be

[katwest]

His maturity is going to be a big plus, he can play and looks like a good shooter. He also has good size and looks to be very competitive with good instincts.

[Wunky]

Welcome to BBN Collin!!! This place will change your life.

[Kycatspaws]

Alright. Nice pick up.

[ManitouDan_anon]

Got out of his " no sex " commitment to BYU , joins the greatest program of all time .. good day for the young man .. LOL

[Blue Wildcat]

We covered the 3SSB circuit. He was a scrawny little thing. Only thing he needed to get to another level was size and strength. Pics make it appear he is ready! Great get for us!

[Codeartist]

Like I said yesterday, let the man build his team. It won't be a Cal team and that's fine. This is a good start and we'll all know whether Pope's team is an upgrade by the end of next season. At the bare minimum we should all let him assemble a team and have a few games before we start to criticize.

[BBNinSC_rivals62411]

So he hasn’t played in 2 years? Is that how the mission thing works? Might take him a while to get back in playing shape?

He’s put many miles in on a bicycle

[FiveStarBBN]

This kid is the type of player that tortures Cal teams.

[cal=8]

He hasn't played in 2 years?

[cat tat2]

Welcome to Kentucky Collin Chandler!

[wccat]

Very, VERY good player coming out of HS! Chandler was the highest ever commit in BYU history - he was the 6th-highest rated combo guard in the 2022 class. Four of the guys ahead of him are in the NBA. The fifth has averaged double figures his first two college season. Basically going to be a 20 year old freshman, so I'd hope those 2 extra years of maturity and growth will pay off too!

Yes. Older kid and older body/mind which should bold well.

Here’s what’s exciting to me. Kid has been a missionary, will still take his lumps as a freshmen but will be a grown man as a 21 year old sophomore and can hopefully administer some beatings to 18 year old primadonnas.

Or so we can hope.

[JPFisher]

The coolest things about this commitment is that there were few conversations about this kid. I think a lot of us thought he'd stay at BYU and media wasn't discussing him as much as Khalifa and Robinson. If this guy came out of nowhere, what else do we have in the works that we aren't seeing yet? Williams, Small, McNeely, Blackmon, and.... who else?

[gossie21_rivals69805]

He hasn't played in 2 years?

Not in any meaningful competitive way.

He will need to build back his athleticism. But he has about 4 months to work to get back. All the tools are still there.

[ThrowBackCat9]

McNeely and Robinson next please!!

[BillyDMac]

Anyone questioning, go watch his videos!

[Adolph B. Calipari]

Let's Goooo!!!

[Runnin'Ramel]

Pope's first recruit is a top 35 kid (albeit, a slam dunk to land him). That, alone, suggests he isn't going to fill a roster with scrubs.

Hope the kid has been playing ball the last 2 years?!

[BStockfan01]

If he did a 2 year mission then im sure that he holds his religious beliefs/standards close and he will honor them.

[Bluefaithful]

Coach Pope hasn't seen him.

Go Cats!

Until he runs in to all the pretty little catholic, babtist, and evangelic girls on sorority row who love the lord and UK basketball...usually the religion of the later wins out.

Ya'll saw that presser. The real Pope and Joseph Smith together wouldn't have drawn that crowd.

The guy was a legit nba prospect and decided to do a 2 year mission out of HS and delay his potential career worth millions. Id say hes pretty strong in the mental fortitude department

[westerncat]

Welcome to the BBN !

[MidseasonTweak]

Let's go!

[Cawood86_rivals]

And so it begins

We all try our best .. at least I hope so .

[Woodrow24]

Good pick up. That kids a good shooter and I like that he’s an older freshman. For players to fit popes system, we will be recruiting more kids based on skill than athleticism.

[BGWentworth]

I wonder how good a shooter he’ll be. Looks pretty smooth but has a low release.

[St.PatterSoN-54-]

I had a feeling today might be the day we ring the bell.

[cordmaker]

Welcome aboard and welcome to BBN! My thinking is 2 year mission trip doesn't mean that he never picked up a basketball for 2 years. He knew he was going to come back and play, I think he worked on shooting while doing his trip.
