He was a senior in 2022 who started his career at a JC the same year President Trump took office (2017).

I laughed at first, but he could end up being a Billy Bates. Sign as a UDFA, make a life out of special teams once they see the film of him crushing Iowa DB's on the goal line QB sweep.

Why are our tight-ends jumping ship? I have yet to research Rhule’s offense’s, and it will be up to the OC anyways to game plan, correct? You mean to tell me there will be less than 240 yards next year to our starting Tight-end?
South Carolina’s tight end had almost double that last year 🤔

I'm soooo confused. He was at N. AZ for 4 years, 17, 18, 19, 20. 2019 was a RS and they played five games in 2020, but he had no stats and I recall he was injured. He played at NU in 21 and 22. So in my way of thinking whether 2020 was a "Covid year" or a medical hardship year, he played 4 years (2017, 2018. 2021 and 2022 and was listed this year as a senior. I didn't think he had any eligibility left?????

Yeah I think Brewington is out of eligibility. If so, why wouldn't he submit his name into the draft pool?

He won't get drafted, but it won't surprise me at all if an NFL team gives him a FA deal.

Not as crazy as it sounds. NFL tight ends are relative trash right now. It’s hard to find a bad play from the guy. He just didn’t get much of a chance. Hope he gets drafted!

OK, you're right. I guess a guy doesn't just get drafted by the NFL, he needs to "declare" he wants to be in the draft and thats what CB is doing. It just seems the way it has been put out there people are implying he is foregoing his senior season.

I think a lot of people completely fail to take into account the grind of being a D1 athlete for 5-6 years. Yes, some guys get sick of being a student athlete, and I would guess winning 3-4 games per doesn't help. It's easy for old bastards like us (most of whom never did anything like this) to say "You think it's hard being a D1 athlete, try shoveling **** 5 days a week for 40 years!" or whatever it is you do for a living. Regardless, at some point most guys are ready to move on in their life and that's okay.

I would have shoveled **** for 40 years if I could have eaten at the training table and had 20 year old hotties throwing themselves at me the whole time.

There ya go, that's exactly the old man response I was referring to.

How about eating at amigos and having hotties throwing themselves at you? Don't need to be a D1 athlete to make it happen.

He won’t get an undrafted free agent deal. But if he has a good testing day in Lincoln maybe he gets an invite to a post draft tryout camp. Not a lot of backups of 4-8 teams make it into the NFL.

Yeah I'm not saying he's going to make a final cut, but why not give it a shot? If he wants to keep playing, he's more likely to end up in the CFL or USFL. But, nothing wrong with that either. He has the rest of his life to stare at a rectangular screen all day long.

I think he's got a body type that coaches like. Like someone else said, free agent, training squad and if he plays it the way he played his college career, he quietly gets on somewhere and puts a few dollars away and comes out of it with a bit of a pension and still in good health.

But you get yourself on the practice squad and that’s a nice chunk of money for a recent college graduate, might as well give it the best shot you can, best of luck to him.

Good luck to him

If he runs well at pro day, who knows? I thought he was horrendously underutilized as a pass catcher during his time here

Probably my favorite Husker over the past couple years. A real throwback who wanted to concuss every opponent every play.

Much better pro prospect than that lumbering oaf Austin Allen - 7’ tall and only 1 career TD.

Special teamers who are willing blockers and tacklers make 53 man rosters all the time.

Same people laughing at Brew’s declaration for the draft thought AA belonged in the ring of honor lol

While Brewington will find it much harder to knock people flat on their *** at an NFL training camp than it was in college, I have no doubt he will give it his best shot.

One of only a handful of guys from the Frost era who never half-assed it or took plays off.

Heck of an athlete that was underutilized by Nebraska IMO. Best of luck to him. Wish we could’ve seen a little more.

I thought the same. Whenever he was in, he seemed to make plays. Perhaps his playing time was limited because he was not a good run blocker?? I don't know. All I know is that the dude seemed to have some skill and I always wondered why he did not play more. He also gets my vote for one of the best names on the roster.

In the right system he'll be a perennial Pro-Bowl player. Just got to find that system.
