With quite a few empty Chairback seats, it appears not many season ticket holders used the Ticket Exchange. I called the Ticket office Wed morning, but there were none available.

There were a few on stub hub earlier this week but many most of those were gone by Thursday. I also didn’t see any Tuesday night through the single game ticket online. I’ll be looking early this week for next weekend. Thought I was going to make it this weekend but couldn’t with family health issues. There are lots of empty seats though everywhere. Several in places I didn’t see tickets for sale this week in third party markets. Not a big deal though if they aren’t checking tickets. Sucks if they are with that many empty seats.

Here is your cautionary tale, about using the Baseball Ticket Marketplace

I wanted to drive up from Gulfport on Sunday, to take my (freshmens) student for a father-son DNF experience. Going through the Mississippi State Baseball Marketplace, ala StubHub, I purchased 2 Grandstand Tickets (Section 109) for $80 + fees. The tickets were for this Sunday, which got moved to Saturday.

The university, upon announcing the change, sent this in their release: “Tickets for Sundays game ticket can be used into the game on Saturday, but will be honored as general admission or standing room only tickets.“
At that point, the tickets i purchased essentially turned into toilet paper.

This is a policy that needs to change. If I bought a grandstand ticket to the third game of the series, I should be able to use it, for the third game of the series. And use them, FOR THE SEATS I PURCHASED.

The (presumed) original ticket seller, gets to enjoy game 3, in the seats that they sold to me. So, they got paid to enjoy a double header. Meanwhile, I took the “L”, and will just decrease my relatively minuscule Bulldog Club donation by said amount.

The moral of the story: DON’T BUY GRANDSTAND TICKETS FROM THE BASEBALL TICKET MARKETPLACE, UNLESS YOU ARE OKAY WITH POSSIBLY GETTING STUCK WITH THE MOST EXPENSIVE GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS IN THE STADIUM.

i agree. That is horseshit.

I love the fact that they are trying to get people in seats that would be empty, but the system has serious flaws under those circumstances.

This is a terrible policy. Would love to hear the justification for this.

Same BS happened to me. I couldn’t make the games today and my $60 Sunday tickets went to $0. The 3rd game should be counted as the 3rd game regardless if it’s the 2nd game of DH or on Sunday. At least give us a chance to get part of our money back.

What’s worse than how ridiculous this tale is would be the fact I’m taking the time to reply. Just not true. I had similar Sunday tickets and acess to not only the seating areas, but premium and club for both games today. Party of 8 and no one had a problem what so ever. Focus your anger elsewhere. The Univeristy was more than accommodating.

Your implication that my post is devoid of truth or integrity, is the ridiculousness, other than the distributed policy on the change of event.

If it wasn’t true, it wouldn’t have been in all correspondence from the Athletic department. In social media, in email, and further reenforced by StubHub’s brief investigation, who aided me upon my complaint.

Here is the direct quote from our “accommodating” university:

“Sunday's game ticket can be used for entry into the games Saturday, but will be honored as general admission or standing room only tickets. All Saturday reserved seat tickets will be valid for entry into the reserved seating areas.”

The verbiage told me to shove off, and enjoy the grass. The Saturday ticket was for both games, and my Sunday ticket was good for nothing. No shot of reselling it, or use in the reserved area. I took a $80 bath. It would have been more, but Stubhub refunded my buyer fees, as part of a one-time apology for something they had no control of.

So, if you expect me to direct my “anger” elsewhere... I’m sorry. But I’m sending it exactly where it needs to go. And, I will use every venue to ensure it is heard.

I’m also going to urge everyone not to take the presumed legitimate avenue of purchase I did. The game day corner scalper is now more reliable, than purchasing three days in advance on The Mississippi State StubHub Baseball Marketplace, linked on our own Bulldog Club site.

I understand, that there are no refunds, if the game is moved or postponed. That comes with any event, susceptible to an Act of God.

But this incompetently implemented policy completely strips value for the ticket holder, being that the ticket is not good for the seat, and event, for which it was purchased. THIS is all I would expect.

If I can’t make the trip a day early, then give me an opportunity to resell it. Or, let someone go in my place. I could have at least retained some value this way.

UPDATE: Upon reviewing my StubHub transaction, I "erroneously" purchased the Allianz ticket interruption insurance. After filing a claim, Allianz responded with payment for the amount paid for the tickets.

Although I am happy with financial restitution, the Athletic Department policy in this matter is complete garbage, and needs to be addressed.

As Maroonandwhite replied, this is the sensible policy.
The 3rd game should be counted as the 3rd game regardless if it’s the 2nd game of DH or on Sunday.

The grandstands were less than half full for Game 3. Are you saying you weren't actually weren't allowed to sit in the grandstands with a grandstand ticket?

I have season tickets. Technically my Sunday ticket I paid for went to **** also.

Did you go to the game? Did you walk in and sit in one of the many empty seats in the grand stands? Did anyone stop you?

If you went to the game and you didn’t try to sit in the grand stand chair backs that’s your fault. If you went to the game and sat in the chair backs, why are you bitching?

Stub hub sold you your ticket. Not the university. Neither can control the weather.

That's a pretty standard policy for rescheduled games. I agree though, they should play 2 separate games on Saturday instead of a double header.

That's a pretty standard policy for rescheduled games. I agree though, they should play 2 separate games on Saturday instead of a double header.

Went to see us play at Alabama in 2016 and I thought they had a pretty good plan for situations like this. It was a Thursday-Friday-Saturday series and I bought grandstand tickets to the Saturday game a week or so in advance. The Friday game ended up getting rained out and we played a Saturday doubleheader instead. So I lucked out and got to see two games instead of just one.

Their policy was that if you had a grandstand ticket for Game 3, it was valid for grandstand entry into Game 2, but if somebody had your exact ticket for Game 2 then you had to find another empty seat, and if there weren’t any then you had to move to the bleachers. I ended up getting my seat for both games, but there were plenty of empty seats so I could’ve just moved back a row or two if needed.

That seems like a pretty easy fix for this situation. You can give Saturday ticket holders priority and also still give the Sunday ticket holders a chance to sit in the chairback seat they paid for if there are any open, which there usually are more than a few.

Is there an actual Ticket Exchange, or just a link to buy/sell on Stubhub?

It's disappointing that the CWS had a great ticket exchange system back in 2013, but we STILL don't have something similar, at least for baseball...

Nope, for all practical purposes only Stubhub. The university apparently has a system, where if ticket holders physically turn in their tickets, they will resell them via phone on Tuesdays.

Personally I’m not going to bother with Stubhub, unless I decide to try out Club Level on some low demand weekend. Even then, I wouldn’t buy until a day or two out, to make sure the weather forecast looks good. GA at gate will be best bet for 90% of the games.

well, it seems like they have partnered with stubhub because they are promoting it all in the bulldog club site. It calls it the stubhub marketplace for buying and selling tickets. you can link your dogtag account and your baseball account to your stubhub account.

just looking, there are few chairback tickets on stubhub for this weekend, but not many. Cheapest I saw was around 39. It will just be really disappointing again if it's half full with only around 20 tickets in the chair backs for sale on stubhub for the whole weekend with 1000's empty. especially if they check tickets when it's like that. Hopefully they won't be.

i called ticket office this morning and they don't have any chairback tickets left for this weekend. So your only options this weekend chairbacks are stubhub which there were very few just a few seconds ago, scalper, or if you know someone. That or they don't check and you slip in.

Software isn't cheap, plus it's a system that has to be managed and maintained. It's not just an 'install and leave' type deal. I have no idea how much that sort of thing cost, but I will say it doesn't seem like it should even be a blip on the radar for an SEC school's budget.

I bet, if you knew something about that sort of thing, and could train the AD, they would likely listen to you and probably do business with you. Until then Stubhub is the best we got as far as electronic trading.

If people aren't willing to sell their tickets then none of this matters. And again, GA seating is not lucrative enough to build additional chairbacked seats. It's just not. You can't find it anywhere in the country (college stadiums) unless demand is non-existent and the whole stadium is GA.

Looks like LSU and Alabama are doing the same thing we are for ticket exchanges. You can transfer your ticket to someone, but if you want to buy or sell in a marketplace, you're sent to StubHub. Not gonna check the other 11 schools, but it wouldn't surprise me if StubHub contracted with the conference to be the marketplace for all schools.

True. Maybe an educational system of how this stubhub marketplace works with season ticket holders and encouragement on a regular basis from the athletic administrative staff and ticket office to use it and resell tickets if people aren’t using them. That or give them some sort of points initiative for reselling them. Instead of the punishment idea for not reselling and not showing, offer a point incentive for reselling If the ticket holder can’t make it. They can link their dogtag to stubhub so it’s possible to show they resold the tickets.

Just a thought.

Need to encourage fans to show up first and if they don’t resell to those who want them. That or just don’t check tickets anymore until it becomes a contested seat issue.

Basketball (men's & women's) is doing that this season. If your tickets get used 90% of the time you get to attend a dinner, a shoot around and get Bulldog Club points. I couldn't care less about going to a shoot around or dinner but the points are a little incentive for me. I've got women's season tickets and they've been used 100% of the games, not just by me. If there were no incentive I may not have made an effort to make sure they got used.

Not so fast..... A buddy of mine showed up Friday after he got off work and realized he left his ticket at home so he bought a GA ticket from a scalper in the parking lot. Got to the gate only to find that the ticket had already been scanned. The lady let him in anyway and told him not to buy from those folks out in the parking lot again.
