The YPP numbers for us are very nice as well

That specific stat is also why a lot of people, myself included, feel like LSU will crash back to Earth pretty quickly.

Someone at work tried to tell me that LSU won a natty with a similar style. That 07 Matt Flynn team had 5.8 YPP. The Jeaux Burreauxs are at 4.7 currently, which is no bueneaux.

These numbers are worthless through 3 weeks. Means absolutely nothing. They are just message board material. Did I miss the bowl projections.......

For LSU, they are not. Miami and Auburn’s defense are indicative of what they will perform against in the future. There’s only so many rabbits feet Eddie O can fit up his *** before it starts leaking.

They should not release polls until later in the season. How does Auburn only drop two spots after losing at home to LSU but Miami tumbled way down after the LSU loss, and rightfully so, but dont put them at 8 in preseason. Polls are a joke along with every other metric less than 30 days into the season. Its all about tv matchups and money.

LSU had like a 25 yard drive then the last passing play to beat Auburn. Gus and his playing calling once again lost the game. LSU’s D is good. The overall landscape of college this year is weak af. Every conference looks down except for the SEC, and that doesn’t correlate to what we were fed all offseason. All the fansites and etc are nothing but sunshine plugs, we don’t get any reliable information about any teams excpet positive news. Then the AP slaps a number on them depending on tv markets. Its only a 4 team race. Bama, UGA, Clemson and OSU....again. And its not going to change for a while. I really like metrics and stats but I don’t even entertain them until conference play, ooc will skew **** bigtime.

Try sorting the stats by using vs. FBS Power 5 opponents only:

I'm excited by what the season may hold but Kentucky is going to be tougher at home than some people think.

Mississippi State (at K-State)
Total Offense - No. 8
Offense YPP - No. 2

Total Defense - No. 3
Defense YPP - No. 4

Kentucky (at Florida)
Total Offense - No. 19
Offense YPP - No. 3

Total Defense - No. 26
Defense YPP - No. 35
