Why isn't Zan Payne playing more? Last year he led the team in both scoring and rebounding per 40 minutes, and this year he's leading the team in both scoring and steals per 40 minutes. Clearly he's much better than either Grady or Allen. And he's from Lexington Catholic.

Canada is another Kentucky kid, and he scored 2 points in just one minute last night. That equates to 80 points if he had played all 40 minutes. He could have beaten Central Michigan all by himself if he'd played more!

I've never been a fan of NBA basketball. I hate the 24 second clock, and I hate all the iso's. I like team play and great execution and patience on offense, and I favor passing over dribbling. I enjoy a fast pace (paste) if it doesn't lead to sloppy play, but it usual seems to. Cal's coaching style caters to guys wanting to go to the NBA, and I respect his approach even though I don't like it.

I say this because I think I'm pretty objective regarding Cal (unlike many here at Rafters). So I sometimes watch the post-game and media day interviews. I think if the Cal haters would actually listen to Cal, they might learn why Dontaie doesn't play more, because Cal has explained it a couple of times. Once back in early October, he talked about how Allen did a great job in practice getting a bunch of rebounds, and that's the kind of thing he needs to do every practice and in games to play more. He did that last night. He needs to do it every game, and every practice.

A couple weeks ago in another interview, Cal described how Dontaie needs to talk. Playing good defense isn't just about individual defense (something Allen has improved on quite a bit) - it's also about team defense. And team defense isn't just about weak-side help, it's also about talking. Calling out picks, calling out switches, telling your teammates where a shooter is, etc. Even though on TV it might look like Allen is playing great defense doesn't mean he's doing these things.

Allen shot like crap last night, but he rebounded well and for the most part seemed to play pretty good defense (though I have no idea whether he was talking on D) so he probably earned more opportunities. He just needs to keep it up.

It’s 2021 in the year of our Lord and I can’t watch a Kentucky game on TV.
I get the same issue if I try to connect to TV with the lightening connector. From what I gather, its the service provider intentionally blocking it. I can rent a movie from Amazon and connect and its fine, but as soon as I try to connect anything that goes through the service provider, it goes blank.
I keep messing around with it and finally got it to work. Something about the difference between air play and screen mirroring. By that time it was halftime of a blowout game. It’s ridiculous in this day an age that we have to jump through a bunch of tech hurdles to watch a game.

Yeah I'm not that tech savvy myself.Usually my son or daughter will stop by and set the tv up if the game is streaming but not last night due to working overtime so I turned on the radio sit back in the recliner with a coke zero and listened to Tom Leach and Mike Pratt and enjoyed the game.
