When they play Minny, I suspect more foul problems for Indy. Remember how Miles complained about how she was guarded? Same way Clark is every game (almost).And.... once they get a rebound they can’t hang on to it worth a darn.

CC gave effort on defense about 10% of the time before Steph got to Indy. Now she gives effort on defense about 45% of time. That's coaching right there.

Yes, but they also don’t need coaches who are hard asses and yell at them regularly. But I’ve only coached high school girls basketball since the 1990s, so what do I know?

People tend to forget how different that roster is compared to this year's, let alone the circumstances of the WNBA playoffs as a whole.

High school girls can handle a strong motivational statement. No women like yellers and screamers.
I had a post many weeks ago about how most of the WNBA coaches aren't really that good. Many of the ones that coached in college were mostly adequate at best and more likely failures in college. The best coach in WNBA history, Cheryl Reeves, was a below .500 coach at Indiana State, with only 2 winning seasons and never higher than 4th in the Missouri Valley Conference. Her WNBA success has mainly been a product of having the best players available to her. Augustus, Whalen, Fowles, Moore were mainstays on most of her title teams. Having those players must have been a hard job to handle.
Smesko from the Dream is the current coach with the most success in college with a .829 record over a long career, albeit mostly at Florida Gulf Coast which was D2 for some, and in the Atlantic Sun Conference for the rest of his time there. He managed to reach an NCAA Second round four times.
Fernandez from the Wings is next. He had 5 NCAA second round appearances and a .600 career record over a long career, at South Florida. Most of his success came after South Florida dropped from the Big East down to the AAC though.
Compare those to Bluder's overall record at St. Ambrose, Drake and Iowa which was .692, .675 only looking at Iowa in one of the toughest conferences in the country at a school that wasn't getting the pick of the litter for players like UConn or Tennessee. She also managed 12 second rounds, 5 Sweet Sixteens, 3 Elite Eights, and 2 Final Fours. Bluder was what I would call a good, but not great coach as her best teams were mainly because of luck of having two specific players. But her success in Division 1 dominates those other three coaches.
For reference, White had a .357 career winning percentage at Vanderbilt, .194 in conference play, and never finished higher than 11th in the conference. She finished dead last in the SEC twice and one spot above dead last twice. Angie Lee had a more than 3x higher winning percentage in conference games at Iowa, plus 2 Big Ten championships, a sweet sixteen and 3 seasons at least making the 2nd round and was directed to resign from the position.

Remember this has not been a seriously run organization and there are hundreds of examples to prove that statement, in this year alone, let alone the other 29 years of its existence.
I'm way too lazy to research this but I think it's quite possible Caitlin's rookie scoring record benefitted from a longer regular season than previous iterations of the W.
Similarly Miles broke Caitlin's record in a lengthened season. But since direct comparisons are being made, I would have expected someone like a Linda Cohn to point out that Miles has so far played 42 games vs the 40 games total for Caitlin in her rookie season. Otoh, I fully understand why the ESPN cabal can't gloss over that fast enough.
But for my part, I must right this wrong ...
Miles, broke the record in the 40th game she played, the same # CC played in her rookie season, so people think it is essentially an apples to apples comparison, BUT...Miles missed 2 games during the season so yes, the elongated season allowed her to be in a position to do so.
All of the season and career total records are going to get shattered by this new wave of players...especially when they go to 50 games next season.
Just think what CC's career assist #s will look like when she is done playing compared to current leaders.
