***CC22 and the Fever mega thread***

Here's coach analyzing the Fever defense. He's a tad bit spicy.
The thing is, there has never been a trans m2f in the 30 years of the league. There are no trans m2f in women's college bball and I haven't heard of a top trans bb player in hs.
It's a non issue, but like everything else in the W it's a topic that keeps people arguing.
Who would have guessed a league full of women, run by women, would have so much pointless, needless drama?
No but that’s just a simpleminded understanding of the issue.
How White and Reeves answered this is perfect.
They thrive on it. They're activists who play basketball.

CC had an excellent game with the exception of her 3-ball - 19 points plus 10 assists was really impressive.
Lexie was getting beaten with back cuts to the rim numerous times today. That seems to be happening quite often of late.
Just finished watching the game. They lost, but I don't feel bad about the effort. They had an impressive run to get it very close at the end. They just needed a couple more shots to fall in the last minute. CC's distance shot wasn't there tonight, but otherwise she was solid. Miles was impressive in the first half. I expected she would do well because the Fever struggle against slashing guards. The Fever did pretty well to contain her in the second half. The Lynx just have too many other weapons. The mid-range queen, Courtney Williams, torched the Fever down the stretch. And, of course, the rebounding was a problem. This was always going to be a tough game to win. The Fever are still in great shape. They play the Lynx two more times, but they are the last two games of the season, so they might not even matter and one or both teams might be resting players.

Not the player she once was. Scoring wise, she's like the 5th option.
I think the win streaks for both teams were a bit overrated.
Fever had won 5 in a row.
Lynx had won 9 in a row.
Both had beaten the 8th place Liberty and then simply been feasting on the bottom of the league.
The other 8 wins for MN:
9th: LA: 1 (who before today had lost 6 in a row)
11th PHX: 1
11th: Portland: 1
13th: Tor: 2
14th Conn: 1
15th: Seattle: 2
The other 4 wins for IND:
11th Portland: 1
14th Conn: 1
15th Seattle: 2
And ya gotta feel a little bad for Seattle...they had a 4 game stretch where they played the Lynx and the Fever 2 times each.

Look at the last few pages in this thread to see why it's a topic that keeps being brought up. Apparently some people can't get enough of the imagined controversy. Caitlin said nobody wants to talk about the basketball. That is very true, especially for a lot of so-called Caitlin fans- they love the divisive sideshow.
Are there currently transwomen asking to play in the league? Have there ever been? It's a non issue right now and all it's doing is creating a distraction for the Fever when they need to be really focused. Do you think Sophie's teammates are enjoying being constantly put on the spot by questions regarding her statement?

I haven't seen the show where Sophia made the statement so I don't know how the subject came up. She certainly has a right to her opinion and free speech, but everyone knows it's a hot button political issue. I have no problem with her stating her beliefs, but I wonder if she considered the media frenzy that would surround her team before she chose to make a public statement. It's not her fault that the media creates these circuses, but I believe Sophia is intelligent enough to know what was coming for the team if she went public with her thoughts.
So she's is supposed to just go along with the crazies, appease them so they don't raise hell. F that. She was asked by the way, she didn't just come out and say it. But that would have been fine with me if she had. Sic of crazy idiots thinking only their opinion counts

somebody should ask the Minnesota coach if she would welcome a male player on her team. Bet you butt the union don’t want men in the wnba. It would eventually become the G League.
14 year old boys beat the greatest women’s soccer team ever assembled. It matters and to play pretend with the nuts is ridiculous.
She's pulling JV level sh**, sticking to her player on the opposite side of the floor and allowing space to get beat by a faster, craftier player on a back cut, even when there's no screen.
My opinion is that her job is to be the best basketball player and team member she can be for the Indiana Fever. I think her comment right or wrong has created a distraction for her team and an uncomfortable position for her teammates. I'm not saying she should shut up and play, but I do think team members have the responsibilty to consider how their words or actions might impact their team.
30 years and there has been not one transgender woman that tried to play in the league, but it's vitally important that one player take a stand against the distant possibility it might happen sometime in the future? You and I have certainly have different ideas of what's a pressing issue.
If there are why aren't they in the conversation for MVP. Who do you think these transgender players are?

This is basically just the off topic forum now for people to air their grievances for and against Trans people. You know, the ones that are taking over the league and all of women's basketball.
The Fever's remaining schedule is tough. With 14 games to go, the only easy win on paper is the Sun at home. They also play two games against the Sky and two against the Tempo, but all four of those games are on the road. The rest of their games are against good teams.
It’s not about the WNBA specifically, it’s about women’s sports in general. As a female athlete with great deal of exposure, she’s using that to advocate for less visible female athletes. The ones making it a distraction are the usual nutcases

Correct, but she also chose her words pretty carefully on the subject she was asked about it, but the usual political warriors bend her words into her essentially saying "F them kids".
I'm guessing a large share of the people booing her, don't know exactly what she said...just following their favorite activist leaders.
It's all just exhausting.
Took our 11 year old to her 1st WNBA game (Lynx vs. Fever) and this is the sh*t surrounding it. Fortunately she didn't get caught up in it all, and enjoyed the very good game that was going on, but the sideshow is wild.
She did - and she also said she supported people being who they are. Fascinating how that is overlooked but not at all surprising.
She was asked a question and answered it. It's too bad so many had to take her words out of context and make it into something it wasn't. Funny how some can have an opinion and others can't. And when it is examined exactly the way she meant it - it's probably a 90/10 issue. But those 10% will screech and a distort the words until it fits a narrative. And you do understand not taking any kind of a stance on social issues is one of the very main reasons Clark is getting sh&t on by so many, right? So I guess Sophie was f'd either way. Just be a loud and crazy activist and one side will love you and the others will just think you're a SJW and leave you alone.
Can you post the entire Sophie quote please? Also what social issues is Clark getting **** on about?
After the Lynx game Clark was asked about Sophie's quote and she kind of side stepped it by saying there are people in positions to take on those challenges and her priority is to focus on basketball.
It was a loaded question to stir the pot and I thought she answered it fine, but it was not a good response according to a lot of people. Since day 1 Clark has brushed off those types of questions and answered pretty much every question about the actual game.
In the ESPN article, Cunningham said she wanted to “protect young girls in the locker room” and that “they shouldn’t have to go against biological men.” This entire sentence is an exact copy and paste and not my written interpretation. As far as CC, all you have to do is to take one second to listen to the "experts" on ESPN and other outlets to hear them say she should be more vocal about the issues. It drives them crazy that she won't.
Also, you guys can hate on Angel's play all you want but this weekend she gave away 1,000 free backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need.

I have coached high school girls basketball since the 1990s and never once have we needed to gameplan for a boy. This topic is freaking political theater that’s not really an actual thing. Sorry Riley Gaines finished 5th.

I saw CC's response and I thought it was appropriate. She wants to play basketball and try to win games not get involved in a fringe issue meant cause divide.
