Have a question. Coached HS for 27 years and still follow NBA and WNBA closely. Last night when CC and Rivers? got a double Technical, Mitchell hit a three pointer and was fouled. After the dust settled Mitchell was awarded 2 attempts to make 1. She made the first and game continued. Have never seen that before. Anybody??

I haven't seen it before either. I figured she got a FT for the foul and then ball out of bounds for the Fever...but then again I still shake my head when I hear hostile act or reckless closeout. Next year I could see "feelings hurt" or catty ***** or something similar in the terminology of different kinds of fouls.

Those weren't on THAT play. The double T was called on a play where Clark did get fouled by the post player up by the three point line , not Rivers, (who fouled her first, but no call). They call the double T on Rivers and Clark, and then review. Clark shoots the 2 free throws for the foul called. Then play resumed Suns ball out because the double T cancelled out any other free throws. That was not the play involving Mitchell....

Correct. If it had been on a made 2 point shot she would have gotten 2 FTs no matter what, but on a made 3PTER she gets 2 chances to make one as there is a 4 point per play "cap".

Its typical misconception about Iowans. I grew up in the QC, and never stepped on a farm until I was about 11 years old. and then just a few times. (my confirmation sponsor farmed out by Walcott). I did however marry an Iowa farm girl. Her family owns a century farm in SE Iowa.

Inside info, or wishful thinking?

Wishful thinking-Most Definitely! Inside info-No. I read two articles talking about this being her final year as Commish from Yahoo Sports via other publications. One article stated reasons why she will probably be gone following this year. And, that article also highlighted her accomplishments since 2019, while stating the case for her firing/resignation.

The other article pretty much stated the reasons for her tenure to come to a close.

USA Today Writer Defends Story Blasting Caitlin Clark... Amid Serious Blowback​

Caitlin Clark's no stranger to taking a beating on and off the court -- this time the thumping is coming from a USA Today writer who's now scrambling to clean up her own mess after the internet lost its mind.

Nancy Armour torched the Indiana Fever superstar this week in a story titled, "Caitlin Clark's flopping isn't just annoying -- it's becoming dangerous" ... where she argues CC's dramatics are putting the safety of Black and ***** WNBA players at risk.

The reaction was fast and furious. Fellow media members and sports fans ripped the piece as over-the-top and totally unfair.

On Thursday, Armour admitted she missed the mark ... while still standing by the core of her attack.

"In my recent column, I made an inartful comparison with the murder of Emmett Till," she wrote. "I intended to connect the issues the WNBA is currently facing with its All-Star Game being hosted in Till’s hometown of Chicago. I obviously did not provide enough context for that."

Then she doubled down.

"However, this point stands: There is a history in this country of perceived threats to white women being weaponized against African-Americans, and the danger that poses to Black players in the league. Players have been abused online and have reported receiving death threats. That has to be taken more seriously."




Whether the clarification cools things off remains to be seen.

Let's be honest ... probably not.

The funny thing is, I highly doubt she gets her hair done, She wears it straight and uses a hot iron to straighten it before games or going out. This was covered in the four part series they did on Clark, "Full Court Press"....

So sad, she's become this lightening rod for all things wrong for people of color. I think she's finding out money can't buy happiness. Hopefully she keeps the blinders on and stays out of the conversations. I'd beef up security around her as well.

Outside of negotiating deals with the WNBAPA, praising the league for growth due to the "Enormous" talent therein and including her accomplishments, and conducting scripted media appearances, what has CE done? She has allowed the officiating to be stale, has ignored and remain silent on issues within the league that only the blind would have missed, has appeared at promotional gatherings portraying the success of the league without mentioning the engine behind that success, and gives no public statements or press conferences to address problems relative to the players. However, she is quick to launch investigations into alleged fan misconduct, turn a blind eye to obvious player misconduct resulting in Adam Silver "urging" her to take the appropriate action, and a general disinterest in what really matters, and that is running a league as it should be run. And by that, I mean actually showing leadership, accountability, and action.
