The pre game show said CC reported waking up with stiffness in her back. It didn't get any better an hour and a half before game time so they held her out.

So the back brace we saw her wear on the bench was the sign of things to come. A search of outcomes looks like this could go on for months. 😟 🙁

Some interesting betting lines in the W tonight. Indy is still a 10-point favorite even without CC. Dallas is only a 2.5-point favorite over Chicago even though Rickea Jackson is out for the year with a torn ACL. And Seattle is only a 1.5-point favorite even though they’re playing at home against the worst team in the league.

I’m not a gambler, but if I was then I would take Portland, Dallas, and Seattle ATS.
This, btw, is why I don’t gamble.

Seems like the W teams have a history of letting people leave if they don’t want to be somewhere. Then again maybe they will treat Clark differently.
Yeah but she's no Paige Bueckers so no GM is gonna make her an offer.

I would like to see how many teams make her an offer in '27 and put the heat on the Fever to match it or she's on a new team. 😊

I worry the CC brand is going to fade into the horizon with the recurring injury bug and, frankly, her shooting struggles. it's unfair that the expectation is for her to be super woman every night but that's shat people come out to see

Yes, those are 2 comparable assets.
Well I certainly don't think so. I think Caitlin is worth as many first round picks as we think Caitlin has prime left years of playing basketball. My point she is that Bonner is still productive in 2026 and is a 6x all-star and 3rd all time scoring. In 2025, she quit on the team after a few games, and after the fever wasted a valuable free agency slot on her in the offseason. Fever front office said cool, go do whatever you want to do and released her. So who knows what this front office is willing to do.

Completely different scenarios....to compare the 2 is laughable.

I worry too, but her 3PT percentage is the same this year as it is for her W career. If she could ever fix 3PT shooting on the road that would improve it dramatically. But whatever is going on is dampening enthusiasm. Announcing her being out 90 minutes before tip is bush league. We have been considering taking a weekend trip to see them play. With tickets for the 4 of us, 14 hours of driving round trip, hotel, and dining out a couple of days, we probably would have dropped $2K to $4k. I'm not doing that when there is a legit chance she won't play, with no warning.

Went to game last year she didn’t play. Paid a lot for tickets on secondary market. Couple nights in hotel in downtown Indy and lots of meals.

wont make that mistake again. If her playing is “iffy” downtown Indy is going to suffer in a big big way. It’s basically turns into Kinnick East when she plays.

never watch 5 minutes total of WNBA before Clark. It’s shocking how bad the product is. Hands of stone and can’t make a layup. Some shots are so forced it looks like an uncoordinated 5 grader is doing them.

league is in big trouble without her.

A good High School JV boys team would mop the floor with any WNBA team. No speed, handles, or ability to elevate.

That is generally my take as well, but she is good enough to score off the dribble when the 3s aren't falling, and her vision is still 10x beyond anyone else in that league. Even in her "bad" games this year, she is clearly the most valuable player on the floor.

However, the reason she brought eyes to the sport is because she was an electric scorer first, and passer second. If she is not on the court, and if her 3s aren't falling, the fans will leave whether the WNBA powers like it or not.

Its floating around online that SW said she didn't practice on Tuesday.

I don't see CC playing any more than 2 or 3 more years especially if injuries keep occurring. She's financially set for life and it looks like she would be a lock for a TV career after she quits playing.

OK, I will respectfully disagree with “would mop the floor“. I have worked a number of basketball camps over my years and the coaches often stayed and played after the campers were done. I played against some NCAA D2 women’s players and was greatly surprised by their strength and athletic ability. I’m pretty sure the WNBA players would mop the floor with those players. My point is it’s hard to judge the quickness, strength, and ability until you have your shoes on and are on the floor with them. Please don’t sell these athletes short and disrespect their abilities. Just an old guys two cents.

No, it's a fact. There is no "C" in GOAT.

Read better and/or try not to mischaracterize.

Because I have attached post #3908 for convinience. If you're going to take quotes from it, you might as well properly characterize the context of the particular paragraph.

As we see here, in paragraph 3 of that post (that you've quoted), the context clearly reveals my having spoken about not personally ever using the TERM, "college GOAT".

If I want to discuss the greatest women's college player, I will do so using those words. I will never refer to that player as the "college GOAT". I will never refer to any greatest college player as, "the college GOAT", IN ANY SPORT. I'm not sure what's difficult about this to understand

Well said. It never ceases to amaze me how some people crap on women's basketball because it looks nothing like men's basketball... they're not as big, not as fast, not as strong, can't jump as high, not as athletic, etc. Women's basketball is a DIFFERENT GAME from the men's game. It's less about 6'10 athletic superfreaks taking over games and more about team play, more about fundamentals, more about passing, more about angles. If people aren't able to watch a WBB game without it being through a viewfinder of the men's game, they should just move on instead of crapping all over it.

I agree 100% Gonzo and so did the great coach John Wooden. He stated he enjoyed watching women’s ball because it was more as he thought the game should be played, for the reasons that you stated. The men’s game is played above the rim, the women’s game below the rim. We can each have our opinions about what we want to watch but please don’t compare men’s vs Womens basketball. They are two different games.

There was a young lady who played at our high school who was a heck of a player and none of the guys had her speed. My youngest son practiced a bit against her and he said she was crazy fast, (faster then any guy he guarded before college). She went on to play at D1and played for the Lynx in the W. Some of those girls are pretty damned good athletes.

3-0 myself, with Indiana and Connecticut bet in-game.

Always a learning opportunity, in case you do get into the game at some point.

Portland is not good. Especially at this point in their infancy. They press and open up the floor on defense, so if they aren’t hitting shots on the road, home favorites will have some opportunities to cover high spreads.

The Fever's roster is much better than people have been giving credit for. A team tends to focus in for a game when a significant player doesn't play. And players are inspired to step up and step in. Obviously not good in the long run, if CC can't play. But quite often you can expect a good effort on the first night. I also like to bet on teams that are trying to get over .500, which was the Fever, at 2-2 before the game.

Individual injuries are worth very little to point spreads. Especially in the WNBA, which isn't bet heavily enough for Vegas to not usually have the majority of their intel elsewhere.

But Dallas is going to win a lot of games if Arike is making shots. Bueckers the perfect fit, as Arike was wildy inefficient as the #1 option.

Careful with labeling teams as "the worst" this early in the season. There are a lot of BAD teams in the league this year. (I'm not a business computer. But I did say from the start, that expansion was an awful idea, product wise.) But even if Connecticut is the worst, it was only by 1.5 games, and Seattle was one of those next worst teams. I liked the spot for Connecticut because it was two bad teams, and one of them was hungry for their first win.

Haven't played yet tonight. But looking at GS+7.5 and Phoenix-2.5. Also looking for a better spot in-game to grab Minnesota, as -6.5 is too rich.

Kind of scary to maybe bet every game again. But the in-game markets do create more good spots. So it is what it is

The men's college game is okay but the NBA has become non-watchable. All they do is dunk, play little or no defense, and chuck up 3's after which they celebrate for at least ten seconds. Team basketball is non-existent. Raising the basket a foot in the NBA would be a big help.

Unwatchable for me too. Four guys spread out standing at the three point line with one guy setting screens out on the perimeter. Very little low post/interior game. Dudes taking it to the rim often don't even look to finish but instead kick it back out. No defense, no physicality, no drama. Just boring and lame. No thanks.
