This sucks. The Fever totally deserved to win this game as well as they played. The Aces just got red hot in overtime. Nothing the Fever could do about it.

The Aces win 107-98 in OT.

The #6 seed Fever finish 3rd in the WNBA. :)

The Aces and Mercury will battle for #1 in the Finals.

Hat tip to the Fever; they never gave in; they never gave up.

The Aces scored 21 points in overtime. That is ridiculous, especially considering the Fever played good defense. 21 points is a good 10-minute quarter.

Will be interesting to see who is on the 12 person Fever roster next year.

Assuming there is a season, that is. Things don't appear to be going well with the new CBA negotiations.
I'm assuming the Fever's core will be mostly the same, but there are a ton of free agents after this season. All of that stuff is a LONG way away.

After Bonner quitting on and leaving the team and after all of the season ending injuries, it really is crazy that the Fever were one of the last 3 teams standing.

During tonight's game:

--> Kelsey Mitchell suffers a left knee injury mid way thru the 3rd qtr & does not return. At the time of the injury, Mitchell had 15 points and was a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the arc.

--> Aliyah Boston fouls out in the 4th qtr (she finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds)

Before the game started:

Caitlin Clark -................. Out (right groin)
Sophie Cunningham - Out (right knee)
Damiris Dantas -........... Out (concussion protocol)
Sydney Colson -............ Out (left knee)
Aari McDonald -........... Out (right foot)
Chloe Bibby -................. Out (left knee)

Great effort, it would have been really interesting to see how the game would have went with Kelsey and AB on the court.
In AB's case you knew there was no way the WNBA was going to let the fever win this series and they made damn sure of it fouling out AB ain the 4th

Under contract (3)
  • CC and AB are locked in, as is Timpson.

Players I would think they would make every effort to retain (4)
  • KM, LH, and SC. They will probably try hard to keep MacDonald as she can back up the 1 or 2.
The other slots (5)
  • You would think they would try to make a splash with 2 or 3 huge contracts, and then maybe draft for depth. Depends really on whether players want to share the spotlight with CC, or they want to be the focal point.
  • With that being said, a player like Angel would actually thrive with CC getting her open looks under the basket and running the floor. Gross, but if Chicago wants to get rid of her due to locker room issues, she would be a good addition talent-wise. Not sure who Indy would be willing to part ways with to obtain her though...
  • Obviously, if they could pry A'ja away from the Aces that would be incredible. Probably not happening.
  • If they added Jonquel Jones and Satou, that would almost as good and also incredible.
  • I would like a giant on the team as well, for when AB has to otherwise guard a giant. Maybe Griner would accept such a role towards the end of her career. More realistically, it would be a player like Ezi Magbegor.
  • Then through the draft maybe Hannah Stuelke as a rim runner, and an athletic 3.

That’s idiotic.
Really...Wilson hacks like a mother and ended the game with 2 fouls yes just 2.....if they call fouls correctly there is no way in H she ends the game with 2 fouls...while Boston kept getting foul after foul called, it was a joke but it has been all year...Wilson gets her precious little whistle that keeps her in games when she shouldn't be.

If only about 12 rich people would start a new league beginning with all the current free agents and after others are done with their obligations they could jump over too... wishful thinking but I'd be all for it;)
That's what LeBron is up to. Oil money.

Yes, really. Officiating is often inconsistent and must improve but you clearly invoked an absurd conspiracy theory (“there was no way the WNBA was going to let the Fever win this series”) as if WNBA senior leadership issued a secret directive down the chain and game officials complied.

Engelbert is most likely gone. Hopefully well before the CBA is finalized. Don't need her doing any more negotiations with her piss poor attitude about the players.

"You could see this coming a mile away. The league was completely unprepared to have the greatest thing that ever happened to it, Caitlin Clark, arrive; they've been fighting it for 2 years instead of embracing this incredible moment. And now here we are."

This 5 minute video is worth your time.

Christine is so well spoken. She's been covering women's basketball since the 1984 Olympics (41 years).

CC is still not 100%.

She said she hopes to return to playing five-on-five by late October and will spend part of the offseason focusing on USA Basketball responsibilities.
