Does anybody know if this tournament is still around? And I will be the first to admit it's wayyy too early to speculate, but it never hurts to play the "what if" game. What if when all is said and done, we finish two or three games under .500 and the CBI comes calling? Should we take it for the extra experience it would give our players? And the possibility of finishing the season with more "beatable" teams as opposed to the Big Ten grind?

It's still far too early to even speculate, but if a tournament like the CBI is our only postseason option, I think we should take it for the experience.

Depends also if Rutgers wants to pay.

Major conference teams don't generally take part but I guess you never know. Schools also have to pay to participate.

I think it would be valuable in Pike's first year to get the extra games' worth of experience - especially with almost the entire roster coming back next year. Worth the money for the extra practice/experience in Year 1, if we qualify.

I agree. Pittsburgh went into this a few years ago after finishing the regular season at about 15-15. They wound up with a 20 win season. I think it would be beneficial for our team to play as many games as we could.

I'd be 100% for this provided RU presented the option to fans and fans said yes. You say yes by buying tickets for all games and get refunded for games not played. If $ worked out close you go for it

I checked and Pitt won the CBI in 2011-12. They finished the regular season at 17-16. In the CBI they played:

Woffard W 81-63
Princeton W 82-61
@Butler W 68-62 (OT)
@Wash.St. L 67-66
Wash. St. W 57-53
Wash. St. W 71-65

Thus they went 5-1 in the CBI and won the tournament by taking 2 of 3 from Washington State and finished the season at 22-17. If we should get the chance I think we should consider it.
