I was a bit frustrated with the KSR guys for this. I was listening live and they mentioned Sharpe potentially coming in two weeks, which lead to them saying why wouldn't you just play him now, which lead to them hyping up the Duke game as if Sharpe is for sure coming, playing, and will make an impact in that game. And then nothing on MJ's twitter about it afterward and I think he mentioned being on vacation yesterday and today, so I assume nothing since? So they hyped up the possibility as if it was happening for sure.

Love KSR but he did this with Wiggins too. A few months before his decision I heard "Look, I'm just telling you guys, he may not commit for a while, but we're getting him! He's coming!"

Sounds like they took the headline and just ran with it. If he comes to lexington in 2 weeks you can't just join the team whenever

This — they just tend to hype themselves up

i thought Willis played really good down the stretch of that 2017 season. we got quite a bit better when Cal stopped trying to put over tripod and inserted willis into the starting lineup. Too bad it took him over half the season to do that. if we start willis, the clearly better college player, from the beginning, we probably end up with a 1 seed, instead of a 2 in a loaded part of the bracket(we would have had to beat 3 30 win teams just to get to the final four and that’s never been done) and have a much better chance of winning it.

I don’t think diallo helps us tbh. he wasn’t that good even after nearly a full year of college development in practice. maybe he’s better as a 3 than a 2. i don’t think he was a better college player than willis though. and willis played the 4. cal wasn’t going to play diallo at the 4. and as much as diallo has a better chance against a guy like jackson, i think we lose too much on offense subbing him in for briscoe at the 3.

Honestly, more than anything Cals, mantra that november and december games don’t matter/only the post season matters cost us more than anything.

alas, i’m also not confident that particular tournament wasn’t completely rigged as an apology to the cheaters in chapel hill and their “generous” alumni anyways(the ncaa gets a ton of money in sponsorships from espn and coke, who at the time were basically run or had key decision makers that were unc alumns).

So you call what Derek Willis did on that last play a sprint and locating his man? He loafed, retreated and lost Maye, team loses the game. Understand why he was in--offensively--and you can argue whether UK should've called a timeout, but that wasn't caliber of effort/awareness that wins those type of games, as we all painfully watched.
I mean the video is right there. He obviously gets back, then thinks Hagans is going to get beat or need help there, and then they make a good play to pass out and he makes the shot. It’s not perfect but there definitely wasn’t any loafing. It’s a semi fast break with how quick they inbound and bring it up and the ball was already in the paint and needed to be stopped. He made the right play. What could be debated is whether they should have communicated a switch so Hagans could contest the shot but it’s all bang bang.

I'd rather have Sharpe this year than next year. We have a complete team. All we need is a star. Sharpe is that. If a few guys get their feelings hurt, who cares.

Play the best players.

Would much rather have Sharpe next season. Even if he shows up I can’t see him doing anything with very little practice time with the team. These have been building chemistry all summer

It may all be BS. But in every discussion about the future plans--his family/mentors/himself--everyone talks about longevity in the league "He doesn't just want to get there, he wants to stay there." And they talk about the importance of development.

Again--it may all be BS. But it sounds like he has a bunch of big picture people in his camp that realize there's more than getting drafted and getting that first 2 million dollars. We've not had many/maybe any kids with that mindset. Kids just want to get to the league. And a lot of them can't stick on an NBA team.

Hopefully they're telling us the truth.

Also it's interesting of note that they're saying they don't believe he'll be eligible for the draft. Maybe he won't be. By the letter of the law, I don't think he will be. But I'll be surprised if there ISN'T a loop hole.

The funny part is that when Sharpe got here, C4T got all on board the Sharpe/Cal train and now is one of the Cal Brigade.
The funniest part is when you create an account in 2022 and try to act like you've been here for years. I get it that your UL board doesn't have near the traffic but at least try harder little troll.
