No Sir, I don’t care about anyone paying attention to us. What I’m saying is these other guys have already declared the winner and we don’t play until Saturday. We have the best chance of anyone to win Saturday against CC...
I haven’t declared a winner. No one can until the game is played. But the probability of a Jacksonville win is lower.

Am I wrong? You’re down 28-7 at the half.
Yes 28-7 at the half at Havelock. To come back and beat one of the best programs in the state. What was arguably their best team sine the days of Pharaoh Cooper and Derrell Scott. The whole states knows about those squads. So if this team can go and beat what is arguably one of the state’s power Havelocks better teams. How are you not giving us a chance to win against CC? Before any of you try and take what I have posted out of context. Not once have I ever posted a score prediction or have I ever said Jacksonville would beat anyone since I been on these boards since 2011. Not once! All I ever say for the gurus who come on and say how bad we are going to get beat is that our kids will compete with anyone and will give it their all on the field. So we are used to everyone saying we will get beat but somehow we keep winning.

Catholic’s class of 2019 are going to their 3rd state championship game. Not saying that the Cards can’t win, but experience in the big game is a huge advantage. Beside the tough conference, the stifling defense and rich tradition, these Cougars know the drill.

Good luck to the Cards. It is a great honor and achievement to play in this game. Anything can happen, but it is easy to understand the confidence most posters have in the Cougars.

How do you have any idea how good Havelock was. They play as weak a schedule as about anyone in the state.

I have seen some highlights from the Jville-Havelock game.....Good luck

We get that and that’s fine. These Sr were one game away from getting it done as 10th graders. Playing in the big game. Although not the championship game experience but these kids have showed up in the playoffs the past 3 years also. Worst they have been is the 3rd round and one year the eastern final where they only lost by 5. In the last three years all but two of their games have been home went on the road and beat teams that they were not supposed to. I remember a Lee county team who statistically had what was said to be the best defense in the state. Only allowing 7 points or some ridiculous low number per game. 14-0 Jacksonville don’t stand a chance because we are one dimensional and can only run. No way will you get more then 100 yards total offense let alone 100 yards rushing. We all see how that went... gashed that great defense for 495 yards rushing that night. So again it’s high school football anything can happen.

Wait a minute? So what your telling me is that CC schedule is filled with teams with all above 500 records? Leave that whole weak schedule crap out of the picture.

Yes just like I have watched highlights of KM and Catholic game. What’s your point? If that’s dominate play then hey. I like our chances!

One thing about film is this... it does not lie! Fans can get on here and brag about this or that all they want. If that is what y’all are calling dominate from what I saw. Cool! Well coached discipline team sure I will give you that. World beaters? Nah! I stand by that 100% I actually watched the game against Huss online. Exactly why I am puzzled with the best defense in the state stuff regardless of classification. Solid defense? Yes very! The best? No!

Are both teams really good? Absolutely. Can either team win? Of course, it’s high school football & it’s Championship Saturday.

Here’s what is comical though & thanks for the entertainment. For 3 playoff seasons running I’ve been hearing (paraphrasing)... nobody respects us, nobody gives us a chance, I guess we shouldn’t get off the bus, how much we gonna lose by, just hope we can give them a game... and then in the next post it’s all this... we can play, speed kills, they’ve never seen speed like this, guarantee they’ve never seen anything like this.... Come on man. Make up your mind.

We all know Jax is good but Newsflash: just like the last 2 years... teams HAVE seen speed like yours before. Eastern Guilford had 2 years ago. Western Alamance had last year and Catholic has this year. As a matter of
fact those teams and others possess some of that speed too. Jax can win this game. Penalties and turnovers always matter. It’s high school football. I don’t think they will though and I’ve seen both teams live & on film the last few years. I definitely favor Catholic.

Since I’m hearing so much defense. Let’s look at a few facts about Defense. Catholic has given up 21 points total in the playoffs. Jacksonville has given up 21 points in a Half in the playoffs TWICE. Jacksonville has given up 100 points in the playoffs. Catholic has given up 96 points total this season... 15 games, regular season & playoffs combined. Guys that watch a lot of football all over the State are telling you the D is legit. Yeah, I know who some of these posters are.

It’s not a 7 game series. It’s 1 game. Turnovers & penalties will obviously matter. I don’t have a bias in this game. I’ll be at the game and sure hope it’s a good one. Good luck.

Btw, did the Colonel now General get her 2nd Star yet?

I mean hell they better not get scored on when they play what 5 teams on their schedule who won only 4 games. They had better pitch a shutout. Let’s just see Saturday I hope for a classic. Conner P, I respect and appreciate your post, with all do respect I’m sticking with the Cards. I can’t wait to see the strategies of both coaching staffs and how the game is approached. That D of CC has been outstanding this year and our O has been very productive. Looks like the makings of a great game.

Hope to see you at the game.

Congratulations to the Cardinals with a stellar comeback victory on the road at Havelock. Sounds like that was the place to be tonight. But there is something else on the table here and we all know what that something else is. That’s right my friends the matchup is set. It’s a run for the roses with a Big Cat and a Redbird and it should be epic.

Looking forward to a fun week of smack and “who gets owned” as we take turns explaining to the faithful why Catholic can’t lose and Jacksonville will win. Good luck boys. You wanted some RED PAIN for lunch. You got it!!!

Nine consecutive region finals, five championships, and haven’t lost a conference game since 2009 in four different conferences. That’s your next opponent Crockaholic.

Jacksonville ran 71 plays Friday night against Havelock. In last years finals, Havelock ran 47 plays.

The key for Jacksonville will be to sustain drives and get points. It is very difficult to get any rhythm or consistency when your offense is on the sideline for extended periods.

Jacksonville needs to get stops and maybe a turnover or two. The line needs to execute and stay on their blocks.

Everyone says CC is not impressive getting off the bus but I suspect they are more athletic than those posters admit. I have noted that undersized and athletically “challenged” players rely on technique, discipline and implementation of the coaches scheme. Those teams are dangerous.

Hoping the Jax coaching staff has the Cards well prepared.

Let’s go Cards.

CC is similar to UVA basketball, minus the titles and all. They're not going to kill you with athleticism but they will out-scheme you and force you to do things you're simply not comfortable with. They also will not shoot themselves in the foot in regards to penalties and/or turnovers so you're going to have to be disciplined.

As far as coaching, these are two of the better coaching staffs in the state. Should be a good one.

LOL... I’m right about more than one thing. By the way, check the schedules & records... Jacksonville has their share of 4 win or less teams(4) on the schedule & another with 5. I don’t think you really want to compare strength of schedule. It doesn’t matter now anyway.

...

...

CC is more impressive getting off the bus now than usual probably. Not as undersized as normal and I’ll never say they aren’t athletic. They are athletic & faster than they get credit for. You are spot on about technique, discipline & scheme. I’ll say this though... they don’t intimidate you getting off the bus.

I’ve said this before... when they get off the bus, you think “man, we’ve got this”. If a bunch of their starters showed up at your practice field on 1 August, you’d hope one was a good kicker or punter. Their leading tackler looks like he’s on the golf team or robotics team. Then you have to line up & play against them & you think “what the heck just happened”.

Splitright30trap... of course you should stick with Jax. They are your team. I expect nothing less.

What I like is the “new age” football is out the window with both teams. This is best man period size isn’t the issue, if you don’t have it you can’t get it.

We play who we can and obviously who we have to schedule isn’t our decision. No need to concern myself with that.

Don't know anything about CC, but do know the Cards. They will score at least 30. This will come down to turnovers and who can avoid them. Jacksonville doesn't have or need a D1 qb since they don't rely on his play alone to win. What they do have is a three headed monster in the backfield. The QB decides to keep or pitch on just about every play. All it takes it one good block or one wrong guess by the defense and a 20+ yard gain or more happpens before you know it.

Graham Brinker is only 5'9", 175 lbs, but he has breakaway speed, reads his blockers, and has field vision as good as any RB I have ever seen. He's also a really strong runner for his size. Kijeir Finister is a 5'10", 200 lb. bowling ball. He's the punishing back that can pound defenders when he hits the hole. The QB is deceiving with his power and speed at 5'10" and 180 lbs. Regardless, whoever gets the ball in their hands is a threat to break it long.

CC had better be able to contain the corners. JHS will run the option to the outside all night long if it isn't stopped. That movement gets defenses moving with the play, then they will simply make the fake and go right up the middle. Very little of the offense is based on the pass. It's more or less used to take defenders out of the middle of the field to keep defenses thinned out and forced to cover outside.

CC looks like they have a really good defense, but I doubt they've faced a trio in the backfield like JHS. Also, because they run the ball, JHS can eat some clock as well. Cards may lose, but I doubt very seriously they will get beaten badly. Honestly, the Havelock game friday night was a bigger game to the team than the state championship, They came out to a packed house, hostile away atmospher, under the lights. An 11:00 game on a neutral field won't have the same big time atmosphere. I don't think they'll play tight. Their big game is behind them.
