That should be a hell of a game. If CC spanks that *** it will make people realize that record doesn’t reflect the competition you lost too.
Sun Valley sucks this year. They can’t even renovate their stadium before football season begins and have to play all their home games in different venues. Beating SV means nothing, absolutely nothing.

I think you could say the same for CC. The team who controls the LOS on both sides of the ball will have a good advantage. I think we might be in for a punt fest
One note, Catholic has seen two teams that are faster and more athletic on defense than anyone in 3A or 3AA. Weddington is very good, but they cannot match the speed Good Counsel had or the athleticism that Rummel had. I think that helps them a lot, also having seen a lot of various blitzes/defenses already will help them when it comes to Weddington blitzing their backers and such. Two of the best coaching staff's in the state going at it, great fan bases, cannot ask for more.

He isn’t dissing Weddington Crr just settle down. We respect Warriors for the worthy opponents they are and anticipate an “all the marbles” matchup. It’s what our boys do, it’s who they are and games like these define an entire season for them and I mean Weds too brother, not just us.
Talked to my junior daughter Grace up at NCSU about this game and she is driving down Friday morning from Raleigh to support her Cougars in this essential SCC meeting. I will make certain the boys(ours) know she is coming and this will aid them in maximum performance which they must have and WILL bring.

What’s your opinion on that Warrior defense now, after seeing them in person? I think they’re pretty darn fast and athletic. Most definitely best in 3A or 3AA and absolutely top 5 in the state.
They did not knock out big plays but meticulously grinded the ball usually on a short field.
The Weddington D did not make me shudder but the absolute terrible Catholic OL play did. Some of that is attributed to Weddington players and may be more so D play calling. When a player comes off the end on a passing play and is not even brushed something is wrong. Never seen a Catholic team that confused and discombobulated.
Top 5 (overall) in the state? Not sure but good enough to be the favorite for a state title.

They made me shudder when I seen them last year at Mount Tabor. I walked into the stadium, compared the size between the two teams and said it was going to be a blowout. And I was right.
Weddington is a fairly big team compared to others in the 3AA.
In all fairness I am probably comparing them to much to the top teams I have seen play, Mallard Creek, Dutch Fork, Vance, Gaffney, and Richmond.
I had not seen Catholic this season and after watching the first 1.5 quarters between Weddington and Catawba Ridge I had some concern about the DL for Weddington. They came up through the Tim Carson regime so one should know they will be hard nosed and fundamentally sound with good football sense.

The O Line is definitely bigger than last year. They average about 20 lbs.per person more
Those schools are big 4A schools. Weddington’s DL hasn’t been very big since 2016. But they are quick and have a lot of heart.

Listened to a parent or just a fan in a conversation about Weddington v Mallard Creek near the end of the game.
Not sure how well Weddington would do against MC, but
I think that might be a little ambitious. A Butler-Weddington game would be interesting
I would like to see that matchup this season. Think it would be a good game but I would lean to Weddington right now. Think they would make less mistakes but they cannot turn it over.
Mallard Creek would be a bad matchup for Weddington and almost every team in the state.
I’d like to see Myers Park and Richmond vs MC. East and West Forsyth seem to be capable opponents as well
I expect Vance to be 4AA and Richmond to be in the west. If that is how it plays out MC, Richmond, MP, Vance, and West Forsyth will be in the west so two really tough teams are going to meet in the third round. Personally I would like to see Mallard Creek play at Richmond. That will be a great atmosphere and a place that MC can show what they have to a lot of new folks. I think Vance and MP will be semifinalist and would like to see them in the opposite bracket. That will be result in three great matchups before the regional final.
