I didn’t think I was old enough to get a cataract at 49 but lo and behold it happened. It was a very fast growing and aggressive type as well supposedly. I had it removed Tuesday at 51 years old. I can see out of my right eye again thankfully. When I went to Duke Eye Center, yeah I know but they are the best in my area, I was probably twenty years younger than anybody in the building. What’s the youngest y’all have heard of folks having to have cataract surgery? We timed it to be after our trip and two weeks before my daughters move in so I will be fully able to lug all of her crap into the dorm. 😂

I was about 52 or 53 when I had my right eye done. Left eye was not needed at the time and it's still not needed yet at 71. It was a very simple procedure and I recovered quickly.

Agreed. Have had no pain. Just feels fluttery still at times and sensitive to light. Vision was 20/20 the day after surgery but he said it probably wouldn’t stay there. He said it would take about six weeks to know what my final vision would be.

High school friend had the surgery in high school. It was some kind of inherited eye condition of some sort. All his family members had it.

I'm 53 I had mine done at Duke as well just recently. Right eye done on 07/20 and left done on 07/27. They did a fantastic job. Going back for the follow ups is a challenge but other than that.

I will say that when I had the left one done it stirred up a crap ton of floaters/debris that was scary. I asked for them to prescribe a small dose of atropine drops which they did and that has made all the difference in the world. I cannot sing the praises of that enough.
