But, according to one ND site, they flew on a private jet which means someone probably volunteered their services to get the family there in style. A reporter from that site thinks this was done to show the family that they can be flown into South Bend each week for games despite living in the middle of nowhere.
Another ND site reported the visit was known about by nobody but the ND staff because Carter wanted it kept quiet so he could surprise all the ND commits also visiting (according to Carter). That reporter also thinks Carter didn’t want the backlash from Nebraska.

"The atmosphere for the game was the most electric game I have ever attended," Nelson's father Jake said. "As a long-time fan of everything football, that was an experience I will never forget. The ND/USC game is something every football fan should experience at least once."
