That was a great AB. He took two pitches that could (should?) have been balls. He learned the zone. Anything over the plate that doesn’t hit dirt was a strike with that ump. He went with that. That last pitch was likely a “ball” that would have been called “strike”.
Give this guy a spot at our School of Medicine!! Love a doc who is cool under pressure.

What perfect plate discipline. The first two strikes were great pitches that caught a tiny edge of that umpire’s strike zone. He would have done the pitcher a favor swinging at either. But he absolutely had to swing with two strikes and luckily it found a hole.

Love it for that kid. Could have easily hit into a season-ending double play. But he found that hole.

A lot of people owe that man an apology. He wasn't rattled at all in a big moment and delivered.
At first I thought he did it to psych out the USC pitcher, but it was so natural, he either deserves are Oscar or he was just that chill.
