I'm going to open up a can of worms here, but wasn't that posted here yesterday? Doesn't MJ constantly repost **** anybody can read here like it's a scoop?

There are so many rumors/done deals etc. on Rafters. If Matt were just "stealing" info from here, why doesn't he share every bad rumor that's posted here?

He went out of his way to say he's not saying it's going to happen. I wish KSR had more moments like that. But people REALLY hate Matt Jones. And if he ever says he's heard something "Oh, he stole it from the message board." Because people here never post anything wrong.

I’m not a big fan of what I’ve seen out of Carr. I know people like to pump his lofty numbers at ninny but sarr was the same. I feel like he’s another star stuffer on a bad team. Jackson who is in the portal is very good for a team that won their conference and he’s a tough sob.

I think I would prefer some others over Carr
Abmas from Oral Roberts

MASON FAULKNER from Western Carolina

MARREON JACKSON from Toledo

I'm not sure Carr would be at the top of my list
Is Abmas in the portal?

I like Carr, I think with some direction, he will learn the difference between a high quality shot and a bad shot.
He took a lot of bad shots last season. He was trying too hard to be James Harden.
Cal is going to have bigs in the paint and the offense is going to run through them. Carr won't be able to just fire away at will.
But I do think Carr will have games where he goes off, he’s a high energy player that can get hot.
There are too many mouths to feed to just allow Carr to volume shoot like BJB did this last season.
Carr may not shoot 40% from 3 point range, but he'll get 5apg, and probably 8-10 points at the free throw line. I'll take that all day.

Oddly there's another facet to the game of basketball, It's called defense. If I 'm not mistaken Carr is supposed to be a lock down defender. Seems many boo whooed because we didn't have any one to guard the quick athletic PG. Offense get all the press defense wins championships, ala Baylor.
But they count the score. You need both. Don't sell either side of the ball short.

Well, that would be welcome news for sure. If true, that would certainly explain the timing of Askew's announcement. Reading the tea leaves, it makes sense that Carr is coming. It was first mentioned that Carr to UK could be a thing several days ago, and then Askew transfers, and now it seems where there is smoke there's fire.

If this is true............. then what has cal changed? Absolutely f****** nothing this is him getting his 1 shooter he likes to have on a team (like Herro) and the rest slashers that dont shoot well because Carr is 31% 3pt and a bad 38% fg overall last year.
You don't like this Carr. Maybe an SUV is more to your liking.

My concern about Carr is that he has not been a winner. Played at Pitt and Minny, on teams that never finished at the top of their conference.

Does he have that winning edge? That killer instinct? We saw the difference between Sarr (played at Wake) and Mintz (played at Creighton). Will Carr be another Sarr? We don’t need talented, but soft. Especially at PG.

At least Tshiebwe and Grady are from winning programs.

A new Carr is always a winner.

Don’t know how he will do here, if he comes but I saw Minn play a few times this year and he is better than Anybody we had at guard on this years club so I will take him.

I watched Carr a couple times last season and when I saw him he did take a LOT of bad shots but, also a lot of shots, period. I don't know if the team relied on him so much that he had to take all those shots but, it was obvious he was trying to carry the team.
That won't work here and I hope he doesn't bring a "need to get mine" attitude with him or it could be an issue.

My hope is that the difference in positions will prove to be a factor. Carr will have the ball in his hands to start the posession.. where as Sarr was relying on guys like Askew and Boston to feed him, while the whole team was out of sorts. Not saying there's no blame on Sarr. But it was kind of like a WR with a bad QB.. you can't do much with our turnover rate, poor passing, and missed shots.. which also, caused teams to clog the paint knowing how bad we were on the backcourt.

Thats my way of optimistic rationale lol.

He was definitely carrying the Gophers on his back. If he knows his role for UK, it'll be fine.

So the Carr was out of control and crashed.

he would have to play a major role for UK as well

why not take him and another top point guard as well, especially one that can shoot
they could play both guard positions at times when Grady is resting or play a 3 guard line up against zones,
especially if the can penetrate & shoot

Carr is not a bad shooter. 32 percent this year on a lot of shoots isn’t awful. He had a couple dud games where he was like 5 /25 that killed his stats. He will take 8 to 12 shots per game here and they will be quality shots. He shot 36 percent from 3 the year before on a high volume as well. 35 percent for his career on a high volume is not a bad shooter. He’s streaky but he is for sure a threat out there.
