If he commits to OSU, then it probably has nothing to do with Nebraska being cheap
Maybe, IMO. It’s a better offer and more money. Like I’ve said before, we will have to over spend to beat out the likes OSU, Mich, UGA etc… Can’t match or come close to their NIL offers and expect to win. But who knows? Maybe it’s not the money and just the allure of playing for OSU, I tend to believe it’s both.
You know this could be about Jones and not about Nebraska's failure in some way
Like to see some stats on that.I find that hard to believe. Isn’t UNL the easiest or near easiest university in the Big 10 regarding admissions?
Could be. But it sure sounds like he wanted more $$$, we didn’t or couldn’t hit his number, so he wants to shop around take “visits”. So in turn we/Rhule decided to cut him loose. That’s what it sounds like to me…
So that is why he also set a visit to K State?
Likely nothing to do with intelligence if it is grades. More likely laziness and maturity. Unfortunately I have had experience with this first hand with a kid in my house.LOL really?! Just to be clear, I'm not unloading on you or anything because a) I don't know the kid so why would I care that much, and b) it's kind of funny - but damn. You would rather the truth be that the kid is stupid and has very dim prospects for the future, rather than it be because he would rather have a great opportunity to play for another team? Fans are crazy.
Yep, i’d rather we back off because he is too risky. We can’t be losing out on other prospects to someone who may not be able to make it here at all.LOL really?! Pretty long commit list + Ty coming back + kid with cold feet = Carlon moving on.Just speculating, but I bet it is more about him wanting to sign in Feb and take more visits.
Comments he made such as my plans changed I guess or something like that I am paraphrasingFor real? Doesn’t seem likely… what lines are you reading between? In other words, what led you to this notion?
Does it really though, or is that just a little bit of confirmation bias for you? This wreaks of us being cheap, again. For those who think this is a “grades” issue I’ll be waiting for your explanation when he commits to OSU on or before his visit…
Just speculating, but I bet it is more about him wanting to sign in Feb and take more visits.
Someone is telling him that he’s leaving money on the table.I mean, if you really want to be apart the change wouldn't you sign during the early signing period and shut down the rest of his recruitment?
Instead he wants to sign late and take more visits. That doesn't sound like a guy that truly wants N.
As crappy as their public schools are it could even be that he’s lacking a class to graduate. One bad guidance counselor can really screw a kid over. Really sucks for him if it’s coursework related.I really hope it’s grades.
Their D line coach is a top “recruiter”. We’re going to have to develop D linemen like Nash and find area kids that want to be N. I don’t think we’ll win any bidding wars with top 5 programs. It’s not grades, But OSU is ponying up for their B or even C option.
With the early signing date we no doubt are scrambling to find a guy. Once again, the word committed apparently means nothing today. Don’t use God to excuse breaking your word.Sucks but this is what I've wanted coaches to do all along. Don't get strung out and lose a kid on signing day when everyone knew he wasn't coming here. We likely aren't finding someone as good as him but at least we aren't going to have to take a risk on someone just to fill a spot.
Scrambling is relative. If we cut him lose then we have probably been working on Plan B for a few days. So roughly a month to find someone. As opposed to waiting until signing day and then start working on Plan B.With the early signing date we no doubt are scrambling to find a guy. If he’s still visiting OSU, I doubt they’re cutting him loose. Time will tellScrambling is relative. If we cut him lose then we have probably been working on Plan B for a few days. So roughly a month to find someone. As opposed to waiting until signing day and then start working on Plan B.
Either way our staff has roughly a month to find a replacement. And unfortunately they have nothing but time for recruiting. If he’s still visiting OSU, I doubt they’re cutting him loose. Time will tell
Commit list stands at 26 and the number of true freshman scholarship players is 27. The scholarship limit is 85. That math leaves 32 scholarship spots. There are 6 scholarship true freshman listed at the DL psn. I think they would have liked Jones on the roster, but I don't think they have short or even medium term worries at that position and the staff faces some tough math to get to 85, especially if they plan on portal activity. With the early signing date we no doubt are scrambling to find a guy. OK. I’ll come in off the ledge. He was still my fave recruit. I think he’s a bigtime talent.Commit list stands at 26 and the number of true freshman scholarship players is 27. Fair point, but I don't see much for size/talent at the nose position.Commit list stands at 26 and the number of true freshman scholarship players is 27. The scholarship limit is 85. Larry Johnson is equivalent to John Blake lots of questionable recruiting tacticsTheir D line coach is a top “recruiter”. We’re going to have to develop D linemen like Nash and find area kids that want to be N. I don’t think we’ll win any bidding wars with top 5 programs.

They’re doing what they can. Radio ads are non-stop and I think the NIL collective mail solicits known donors. Davison no doubt solicits his contacts. I think it’s a complicated situation and we might be a little more conscientious about following the rules than some other programs. We’re not good at cheating.Would like to see 1890 and the university promote nil more. If fans knew their donations could bring in better players I think we'd see more money to nil.
They need to target the average fan for smaller donations. Those could really add up in our state. They’re doing what they can. I still believe that IF the right guy was there and Rhule thought we had to have him, the money would be there. IMO the NIL value rating sites are doing a tremendous disservice to college players. You know damned well lots of kids see their theoretical value then hit the portal only to be disappointed.
Guys that don’t come from very good economic circumstances can be easily convinced that the grass is greener elsewhere. I see this getting worse and I don’t see any end to it.
thats what the radio ads that run constantly on area radio stations do. They’re doing what they can IMO. They’ve got an online presence but that’s difficult to penetrate. They need to target the average fan for smaller donations. Those could really add up in our state.
I’ve even seen billboards in Omaha promoting the 1890 NIL..They’re doing what they can. Radio ads are non-stop and I think the NIL collective mail solicits known donors. Same with Vince Morrow at Kentucky.Larry Johnson is equivalent to John Blake lots of questionable recruiting tactics
They need an in your hand, easy to do right now kind of thing. You can't scan a QR code to donate from a radio ad.thats what the radio ads that run constantly on area radio stations do. They’re doing what they can IMO. They’ve got an online presence but that’s difficult to penetrate.
You don't think fans already know that? They living in caves? The fans that don't already know/understand NIL aren't going to be the ones donating money to the collectives. "Hey honey, did you know that if we send DONU $50 we might get better players? We should do that!"Would like to see 1890 and the university promote nil more. If fans knew their donations could bring in better players I think we'd see more money to nil.
