An insanely depressing stat I realized on my own recently...I was born in September 1987, so starting with that 1987-88 school year, there have only been two school years in my lifetime thus far where Rutgers had a winning season in both football and men's basketball...1991-92 and 2005-06, the latter of which just happened to be my freshman year of college...Hard to believe but true.

That's a crazy fact. RU really is a **** sports school. Also, you were born my senior year of high school, so now I feel old too. Man this place is depressing.

I bleed Scarlet more than anyone on this board. I was born at St Peters. My church is on College Ave. I graduated with Deans List honors. I went to games as a kid before the stadium expansion. I couldn’t be more of a Rutgers fan. I’ve just come to terms with the writing on the wall and NIL that this university will never have success as a “sports” school. This fan base is delusional thinking Schiano is a good coach. He is the most mediocre of the bunch and has been so not once but 2 separate stints. In fact it’s his own damn fault the program lost everything he built from the ground up. Maybe things would have been different if he never bailed or jumped Ship for the NFL. But he did and it destroyed any momentum and hope we had going into the B1G. the Flood and Ash then washed away and burnt to the ground anything he had built. His teams are the most mediocre I’ve ever seen. He couldn’t even win a BIG EAST FOOTBALL CONFERENCE TITLE OUTRIGHT WITH THE WEAKEST FOOTBALL MEMBERS THE CONFERENCE EVER HAD.

I am RU through and through but I’m not a fool and I won’t die a fool. If you keep thinking we will ever be successful look at the state of NIL. You could pay a basketball roster 10 million dollars and they would still wind up losing in the state of college athletics being what it is.


Once you come to terms that RU isn’t an athletics school, you can just enjoy the moral victories because they are “fun”.

Stop being delusional and come to terms with reality. This is an academic institution with ZERO history of success in Major College Athletics.

I didn't have anything to renew, not a season ticket holder, or an RU alum. I don't get nearly as much enjoyment out of live sporting events, as opposed to TV. Never have. Had Yankee tix for a short time, then went to work for a company w seats and dropped them too. When you get more enjoyment out of the tailgate, really no need for tickets.

My sister and many best friends are RU grads and I've spent plenty of time in the scarlet lot or section 126 over the years. But no doubt, RU sports could cease to exist tomorrow, and my life would be effected very little. You should be glad RU has fans like me, because they haven't done much winning to draw anyone in.

There has been and still remains no accountability for the two primary revenuesports.Having a winning season is considered a great achievement.The NIL, transfer portal and addition of four west coast teams have only worsen success in the B1G Ten.
