Decades of neglect caused decades of futility for the men's basketball program. The program is still in catch up mode but at least the practice facility enhances perception of the program as a power conference team.A winning season is now needed to show real progress on the basketball court.

"These were the medieval conditions Steve Pikiell encountered when he took over Rutgers men’s basketball in 2016.

This was a program left to wither and die over two decades of neglect by Rutgers’ hierarchy..."

You can thank Bob Mulcahy for this. I never understood how your 2nd biggest revenue generator was allowed to rot.

Bob got there in 1998. That means there was no development for 22 years prior. The place was rotting long before Bob. He didn't help but is not the lone culprit.

I remember reading, before the men's bball locker room got renovated at the RAC, there were players that were too tall for doorways/rooms and had to crouch down to fit. No excuse for something like that to exist. Even if it was to code since the building was so old.

Should result in immediate recruiting returns. 2020 should be Pikes best class by far.

zags saying that is bit. Excited to see the haul of recruits. I’ve got my fingers crossed Coleman doesn’t commit to Illi on his official and we get an ov to wow him.

He's already taken an OV pre-facility. Not sure how it would with him taking another.

Damn, now we blame Uncle Freddy for the RAC being old? It wasn't that old when he left! And gleaming practice facilities were hardly the norm in the mid-90s, and how would we have ever paid for one if we wanted one? Our football turf was coming up in chunks! Jeez.

We actually were ahead of our time with the RAC. Schools like Syracuse, Villanova and Georgetown were playing in bandboxes when we built that place.

Blame Fred for a lot but not for the RAC being old.
