Damn, that whole thread just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I know UK has its own problems at the PF position, but we are still strong with Richards and SKJ right now. It sounds as if Louisville's entire frontline play is collapsing under the slightest of expectations.

I was watching the game today and was thinking...I highly doubt Padgett will be back next year to coach. How do you recruit this year? Strictly JUCO's? With the NCAA sanctions looming, their team will be set back for a few years at least.

I rarely watch UL play unless they are playing UK or a fellow blueblood such as Duke or UNC, but with that said, I'm not optimistic about Padgett's chances. Really, he would need to carry them to an Elite Eight to secure that job. Even then, with Chris Mack just an hour and a half away with familial ties to the city, it will be his job to accept or decline if he so chooses. In my opinion, this season is little more than an open nationwide interview for Padgett to take a mid major job elsewhere after this season should he meet minimal to moderate expectations.

I argued that UL was looking at double digit losses this season when Pitino was fired, yet had quite a few fans telling me I was being naive. The ACC road games will be very, very unkind to Louisville this season, especially when it comes to the taunting and verbal belittlement of the program. I still believe that Louisville takes at least ten losses this season.

Mahmoud is not the only problem here. The real problem I see right away is their lack of defensive intensity. Give Pitino this same group and they'd still be undefeated because they'd be winning with defense. I'm sure Padgett is a good coach and I'm 100% certain he's a better man than Rick, but he may not make it to mid-season if he the Cards keep this up. They gave up 78 points to Omaha and now 79 to Seton Hall. That's the issue.

I felt when they announced Padgett, they were writing off the season just to keep the players happy while buying time to bring in a guy after their punishment was finalized.

I can't believe anyone thought Padgett with his experience would be a coaching prodigy.

Watching UL reminds me just how GOOD Rick is. Not his character or morals...His coaching and motivating.

I don't get it. For the last three years all they've talked about is how he would be a 1st round draft pick by the time he was a senior. Hell, half their fans thought they'd be lucky if he stayed 4 years before going pro! Are you telling me they now see that Pitino was just a sack of hot air blowing BS up their butts when he said there are 8 NBA guys on his team? Shocking

I've been tough on P.J. Washington this season, but compared to Anas and Spaulding P.J. is an all-star! :joy:

Rick is obviously light years better than Padgett, but I never thought the talent on this UL team was some great shakes anyway. They are going to be abused in the ACC.

Liar Rick was saying how he wanted Padgett to succeed, when you know, all the time, that he wants UL to tank, so that all the fans say that they were projected as a possible final four team, and then finished 6th in the ACC. Oh, if only they had Rick.

This. I was going to say this earlier. He wants Padgett to fail and UL to burn to the ground. It’s all about Rick.

This year's UL squad will be their best team for a while. Once the NCAA lowers the boom, recruits will be hard to come by. That's why they hired Padgett instead of going after a big name coach. Will make it easier to fire him when the L's pile up.

And if this season starts to unravel, look for another self-imposed post season ban.

funny how they are quick to jump on some kid for not playing well, but have a continuous slurp fest for the people that put them in this position..

Their fans will turn on them all at some point this year, Anas is just the first one to draw the fans ire.

Huh? UK has zero issues at any of the front court positions so not sure what that meant. PJ has had some struggles but he is still one of the top 5 talents in the SEC at PF . UL's troubles begin and end at guard. They have like 300 good SF and PF . No they don't have any good centers but in college PF can play center . UL's issue is they literally have 1 guard . Well 2 but the 2nd one doesn't play much. They start 1 pg , 3 SF and 1 center.
