Will we have any players participate in the Cape league? Curious since the season had already begun before our CWS run. My understanding is the summer league is where many players with a higher ceiling go to make a leap

I know the Cape has some good arms, but Kellum just spent the last 2 weeks hitting off 3 top ten draft picks (Madden twice) and another guy (McGarry) that had more arm talent than any of them. He will be in the big leagues before he faces that kind of pitching again... He should enjoy a step down in the competition out in the Cape.
Still a great place to work on mechanics. If a kid needs to work on going to the opposite field w/ a breaking ball, how to handle an inside fast ball, and he's got a lot to learn about 1B if that's where he's going to eventually land. It won't be wasted time for sure. Learning from other coaches and players is invaluable too
I have no details, but I’m certain that we will still have a bunch of guys added to rosters out there. Our 2013 team had a bunch of guys that still played in the CC after the finals.
Kellum Clark, Kam James (who may wait on the draft), Sims (who may opt to rest the arm), Fristoe, Logan Tanner, Kyte McDonald, and maybe a few others would be prime candidates to head out that way.

For sure. Not much you can fix when Leiter and Rocker are bringing the nasty stuff and 95+ in on your hands and every at bat is at max pressure.
I was just pointing out usually, the Cape is where players go to see a step up in competition. Not for Kellum Clark. That freshman just went to battle with some the best arms on the planet.
I'm not sure how much with the BBCOR, but in the 90's it was a big deal to go to the Cape to see guys play with wooden bats. You had to learn to barrel up the ball in the sweet spot with wood.... Not so much with that 2-3/4" drop 5 Easton Redline.

The pitchers outside of Sims are who I think have the best chance to grow in the Cape. Cade Smith and Fristoe have big time upside. I could see either of those guys battling for Saturday starting roles next year if they get better command.
Lots to wonder about. But what happens with MacLeod? He will only be a sophomore eligibility wise next year. If he can fix whatever broke in May, I would love to have him back as a weekend starter. Preston Johnson sure looks like a guy that wants to be a starter after mowing down Vandy for 5 innings. Still have Houston Harding. Do you stretch Sims out or leave him right where he is.
Going to be fascinating to see how the staff develops this fall. Now we just need 2-3 bats to pick up some slack for Rowdey and Tanner. I love our guys, but an impact transfer bat would make me wooly as 17 about a return to Omaha next season.

Missed Fristoe. I saw Sims and Tanner on the roster though. That's really good experience for all of those guys.
I hope that my opinion is wrong but I don’t see MacLeod back next years. MLB scouts love lefties with his size & breaking stuff. He should be drafted round 5-7 and he has been at MSU 3 years. He is a round 1-2 pick if he gets his control back. He could thrive in a Saturday or Sunday role next year.
Isn’t the Cape just for freshmen and sophomore players? Could be wrong on that but could have sworn that was who went to the Cape.
I could be wrong but that swing and his attitude looks to have all star written all over them.

Clark isn’t limited to just hitting the ball. He hasn’t even really tapped into his potential on the mound. He had thrown in four contests earlier this year and was touching 94 miles per hour with his fastball sitting comfortably at 90. He already has a four-seam and two-seam fastball, a slider, curveball and changeup making the prospects of him pitching some highly intriguing for Lemonis.
“They say it’s pretty much up to me and if I want to do it they’ll develop me and teach me what I need to know,” Clark said of his pitching possibilities. “If I did pitch, it’d probably be as a reliever because it’s hard to start and go out there and play the next day. I can see myself doing that.”
