Skal dropped 18 and 12 reb last year. Have to take scrimmages half seriously. Mulder still won't play much considering the players in front of him (same amount as last season)
I would usually agree with this, but with Mulder, i'm not so sure. The limited minutes the kid did get to play last year, i don't think i remember a time that Mulder had the confidence to even think about shooting the ball that often. At least in this practice the kid was ready to shoot the ball after catching it. I know that might sound silly, but to me it means the dude has the confidence to at least attempt open shots and sometimes even contested shots from our big guys. We all know Mulder can shoot the ball. That part of his game is not a secret. That was the part of his game that he was elite at while playing juco basketball. I doubt the kid's defense will ever be a strong point in his game, but if the kid can shoot the deep ball at a high % and not give up too many baskets, the kid's talent level from deep might just be enough to get the kid on the floor this season. When i say that, don't get it twisted. I do understand the fact we have three of the most elite guards in college basketball this coming season and as good as Mulder is at shooting the ball, he is not going to take any minutes from Fox, Briscoe and Monk. The great news is, at some point during the year, we will have games when one of the three or maybe even two of the three get into foul trouble or need rest and Mulder can at least get into the game and get a few open looks from deep. The kid does bring a skill that we are in need of and if the kid's confidence level is good enough to at least attempt open looks, it may just be enough to get minutes.
