Sitting in your apartment minding your own business only to have a police officer break in, point a gun at you, bark orders at you, then shoot you for not complying... In your own house...

This is America huh...

I like how you bring up a crazy fluke incident that's being prosecuted and use it to portray America in whatever light your ideology had already painted it in. Bravo.

You take one ****** situation & try to make a blanket statement with it...

Yep, don't like this kind of conflating. It is exactly what our president does every chance he gets. It is one thing for some TI poster to do so, but we should hold our president to higher standard.

I think we can all agree that you shouldn't be able to go into another person's apartment, shot them dead and then just be like my bad thought this was my apartment, I will be more careful next time.

You would think... But reading some of the responses ITT put that notion in doubt.

This is a total digression, but it's that ridiculous provincial attitude that makes so many people hate NYC. You're clearly really proud of yourself for living there, though. Enjoy it.

This is a horrible murder. Where is the post about the same horrible murder with a kid in Chicago, sitting in his apartment, and getting shot during a drive by?

So I'll go find it, stand by...deer google...here it is:

Five teenagers were among 12 people wounded by gunfire between about 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday in shootings across the South Side and West Side.

The most recent shooting left a 16-year-old boy wounded in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The boy was walking when he heard shots and felt pain about 10:50 p.m. in the 4200 block of West Crystal, according to Chicago police.

He was shot in the stomach and was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.

This is America huh? Inner city living huh? Urban crime huh?

Save this for your facebook. Sad country songs are being sung by people all over America, and the world. So some white cop killed someone that didn't look like her for what ever reason. People are dying everyday, for less than that.

You made it political and you lost!

I don't know about anyone else, but if someone is pointing a gun at me, I'm going to do just about anything they tell me to do. You want my wallet, fine! Can I drive you to the ATM? You want me to get down, in my own apartment, which you just broke into, well I'm not happy about it but you're the one with the gun, so...

People today, and I'm talking about all people, have a very serious problem with authority. Parents have gone from not disciplining their children, to full on encouragement of defiance. And this is the unfortunate result.

I have no problem standing up for myself, or with others standing up for themselves, but you have to assess the situation, and act accordingly. If I was in that situation, I'd have done exactly what I was told to do. I'd have been released. And then I'd retire, because that police officer, police department, etc would be sending me monthly settlement checks. Dude could have hit the jackpot, instead he got shot. Terrible outcome.
She claims he did not comply after the fact. But did he? Investigators think she has been dishonest in several ways. Other aspects of her story are fishy.

Should he believe she is the police? Not even knocking on the door or even announcing herself? What would you think peacefully and lawfully sitting on your own sofa? I guessing he is in a confused state of shock. It is hard to think clearly and he had no time to mentally sort things out.

Of course it is, but it's also a good example of the kind of thing we'd hear more about if the agenda was different. Of course, police shootings are also a more politically responsible problem. They're also much, much rarer. I'm not even sure this thing with the Dallas off-duty cop is part of that problem, though.

I think the fact that you posted a topic about this crazy story proves that this really isn't America, thank God.

I do agree that it's shocking how many idiots and weirdos are out there.

There are also reports of immediately prior of banging on a door and screaming let me in.

You are taking the word of a literal murderer.
I didn't take the word of anyone. I posted what I read about the topic. Haven't really cared to look into it anymore than what I initially read about it. From what I understand, she has been arrested and charged with manslaughter. What else do you want to happen to her? Was it premeditated? From what I read they have no known prior relationship. Can you prove otherwise? Yea it's a ****** situation, but to put it out like some on duty cops broke into this guys apartment for the hell of it and shot him because "this is America huh" is laughable.

Maybe they had a relationship that went sour, so this was a way she thought that she could change what may have really happened?

Is it? Debatable.....or it could be the preference of the individual wishes to live.

Also- hahahaha at you thinking I like trump as a person. He’s a Yankee *** hole as well.

@iceheart08 Well apparently it is, as you can see he came running to defend his southern honor and not unlike your favorite president goes on to tell the board how tremendously smart, successful, and desired he is, while simultaneously using the incorrect form of THERE.

My liberal elite yankee friends and I (including Trump) laugh and laugh at you "dumb southerners" who think that you actually have any control over your own lives.

Enjoy your 401K gains! Oh, and be sure to vote! We don't want to lose that estate tax exemption up to $11.2 million. My kids don't want to work!

Haha, didn't take much to show your true colors...the "insult" of calling you a yankee seems to have been extremely accurate. As with others on this board, I'm fine with my financial position enough that I don't feel the need to over compensate for it on the internet bud. Why don't you post your W2 for 2017?

This whole story has been interesting to watch unfold.

First, the story was she just got done working a 12 hour shift. Then I saw 14 hours reported. Most recently I've seen 15.

Also have heard her statement that the door was ajar/open - but the other witnesses refuted that and said she was banging on the door and yelling 'let me in' before busting in the door

Final ringer - the other two witnesses stated that they could see how people get confused about which apartments are which, because they all look similar - BUT this guy knew that, and that is why he bought a bright red door mat to distinguish his apartment from others.

There has got to be more to this, and it's a shame that it seems she is getting a smidge of preferential treatment just because of her occupation.

I'm not gonna be shocked when we find out they were hook-up buddies, he got a serious girlfriend and she got pissed
