Their OF can really cover some ground. They all hit well. They pitched well. Their 3rd baseman has an unbelievably strong arm. Hell, they've won 50+ games for a reason. They were WAY underseeded.

I think we got beat in the Supers behind the performance they put up in Baton Rouge, people would realize we lost to a better team. I didn't think people came unglued with Samford, and Stoney Brook would beat the **** out of Samford.

My point of the original post is that many on here just do not understand the modern day college baseball landscape. They see Stoney Brook and think, "MSU should beat them 20-0," with no thought to the talent level there (see Ronny's above post). You cannot, in today's college game, just assume you're going to beat a team because they aren't USC, Arizona State, UNC, FSU, LSU, etc etc. Marcello had a good interview with Aaron Fitt, explaining this, that everyone on here needs to read.

Very little. I gave Cohen a lot of credit for a good job this season and said I felt better about the future of MSU baseball than I had since the day we rehired Ron Polk. You're right that I saw the name Stoney Brook and just assumed LSU was going to rape them this weekend, and I would have thought the same if we were the ones playing them. But again, watching them play it didn't take long to realize they're a damn good team. I think that had a lot to do with why the LSU fans gave them an ovation after the last game. Stoney Brook won their respect.

</div><div>You hit on two parts I really like. Carmona's pretty good (3B); he just sticks out at you. I think he's a legit prospect, but think he'll have to change positions. He's made some good plays there, but he's messed up a few times, too. I don't know if he has the glove/reaction time for that spot. But you're right, he made some incredible throw that I thought he didn't have a prayer of getting there in time. His mistakes usually aren't bad- he keeps the ball in front.<div>

From reading LSU message boards a LOT of them are upset. Manieri looked lost in his dugout while Stony Brook took it to them. They're having debates about whether they want to be classy and give the visiting team a victory lap or be good again. It reminds me a lot of posts on Genespage when Polk II was our coach circa 2003.

Heck, the last two years we have been better than LSU- including 3-2 against them this year, and it should have been 4-1. We have the same amount of SR appearances and more postseason appearances the past two years. For all the talk about how good Jacoby Jones is- Wes Rea and Hunter Renfroe had better years than he did. I can guarantee you that if we played Stony Brook at Dudy-Noble with LSU's talent, we win.

Manieri was in trouble last year too- he missed the regionals and he upset Gavin Cecehenni's dad. They also won't let people be dual position players. That will hurt them in recruiting.

LSU was given an easy draw this year because they whined about not making it to the regionals last year. So, the NCAA tried to make it up to them and they **** the bed.

I think you are right coach- I don't think Manieri will be around for very much longer unless he straightens up. I think he has a year or two left at this point unless he gets them back to Omaha next year. He has already replaced his pitching coach, and now they are calling for the hitting coaches head.
