O.K., the guy is a yankee. We know how they can be. The guy has to know by now that he can rub people the wrong way sometimes. Tebow said it. How hard is it to just go in and be nice as hell to someone? I am not worried about his coaching abilities and when we win a few games, he can be an ******* till his heart's content (i.e. saban and meyer). But until then, somebody drop him a hint to act the opposite of the way that he is inclined to act. I just hope we hire a bunch of recruiting fools as asst. coaches.

I met him the very first day he was here, that night actually. He was obviously tired but was very nice and polite. I didn't shoot the bull with him but he seemed polite, intense yet relaxed, not really talkative but still nice.

If you are referring to the supposed questions about him asking Patterson questions regarding character or doing drugs then too bad I say. He should ask those kids about that and if they get offended they probably have something to hide. We don't need another gun type incident or a Jimmy Johns incident.

he is only annoying to his competitors. Cohen's personality is infectious in that you hear him talk, and you want to suit up and play hard for him, and you feel very confident that you are going to succeed because he believes that you are going to succeed. He has a personality that you know that he is going to push you, but you know it's going to pay off in the end. I think that's why Cohen is so good at recruiting.

And if you say "but he hasn't done anything at MSU". Wait in TWO months.

I'm sure Cohen will do well at MSU. Unlike football, I think both Ole Miss and State are better when both teams are successful.... long season, lots of games, "real" tournament.

and you really don't care if you go to Omaha or not? And I go to lots of Cardinal games, so yeah, I know what the Big Leagues are all about in terms of atmosphere and college doesn't compare, but still.

and you're right Pat. The fact of the matter is, there are nice people everywhere, and there are turds everywhere. Fortunately, I think there are a lot more "nice" people. That's like everyone thinking that people on the West Coast are Liberal hippies. It's just not true. I think if people were more open to others, life would be a lot better for all.

And for the record, I've never had anyone ask me if I wear shoes or make fun of the fact that I'm from Mississippi. I think it's how you carry yourself. I'm not ashamed that I'm from there and I tell people how I like living there, about the antebellum homes, the catfish, and of course I make sure I spread the gospel about MSU baseball.

it seems to me that northerners are more brunt, or some would say abrasive, with their comments. I dont think they mean for their comments to be taken harshly, its just how they were raised. In the south people seem to try to soften their comments more and because of that a lot of people take southerners as nicer people.

I started thinking about it and last year:

I went to twelve football games (4 USC games, 5 UCLA games, 2 Charger games, and 1 Raiders game).

I went to 14 basketball games (4 UCLA, 4 USC games, 4 UCI games, and 2 Laker games).

I went to 4 AVP tournaments and 6 men's volleyball games... all UCI, but I saw them play UCLA, USC, Hawai'i, BYU, and Pepperdine.

I spent at three days at the Surf Open at Huntington Beach.

I went to three MSL games (2 Galaxy and 1 Chivas).

I went to ZERO baseball games. There were two regionals and one super regional within 20 miles of my house... I went to no games.

but I would love for us to go to the Final Four and have a good program. Saying that you don't care whether your team goes to Omaha or not because you aren't a baseball fan seems kind of stupid.

You, however, are free to have your opinon. The initial response had to do with my assessment at that, unlike football, the structure of the baseball season with more games, multiple meetings between teams, and a full-fledged national championship tourney would, in fact make both teams better if both were more competitive. Even though I hear people say from time to time that both MSU and OM do better when both are competitive, I don't believe it, nor do I think it is supported historically, Football, with only a single head-to-head match and no tournament-based championship tends to marginalize one program or the other or make both mediocre.

But hey, have fun in Omaha.
