Pretty sure in 2017 there were several threads talking abt how 2018 was our year.
2019 would be a rebuilding year.

Life happened and Mullen left. We hired a new staff with new ideas. Their ideas didn’t fit our 2018 offensive personnel.

Most people wanted new ideas.

It's really just a few loud-mouthed posters, aided on by the trolls like olblue. Again, just treat them like children.

Don't know, but can probably pull up plenty of threads of people saying we were going to blow out Kansas State. And even more threads of posters saying we are going to win 9 or 10 games this year. Not sure your point. I guess you are saying this is a rebuilding year and we are going to be better next year?

This guy calling people trolls and loud mouth posters. Jesus 17in Christ. Do you read the **** you post sometimes?

We have a hunch sunshine pumpers that would go down on a ship that has holes all in in thinking they can make it.

Plenty of loud mouths on here thinking we are going in the right direction thinking 9-3 and 10-2. Then call people idiots and trolls because they say 6-6 or worse.

Get a grip.

Just calling you out just like you like to call people out. I’m no troll. I’m a die hard state fan that expects better. I’m calling you out for calling people trolls, loud mouths and idiots just because they see it different than you. Then the results on the field seem to prove the prove the “trolls” right. We say there is a problem and the ones like you are saying we are idiots dumb and trolls deny it.

"Rebuilding" is what K State is doing. Who knows WTF we're doing.
They look pretty similar to us IMO:

2018: 5-7
2017: 7-5 with a Cactus Bowl win
2016: 8-4 with a Texas Bowl win
2015: 6-6 with a Liberty Bowl loss
2014: 9-3 with an Alamo Bowl loss

Try again. I don't think you guys realize how wrong you are. paindonthurt is exactly right, you're a bunch of dumbass idiots.

Actually, I totally understand your point of view. I just don't think you have the ability to see the bigger picture. And to be specific, I called you a loud mouthed poster. I called olblue the troll.

Similar ???? They punched us in the mouth and made us like it over and over and over with half the talent. Their attitude, discipline and approach to the game was totally superior to ours and they were better coached to boot. Other than that I guess they were pretty similar.

Geez you idiot. I was talking about the recent history of the program. Put down the meth pipe

But since you want to go there, look at the box score. Stats were dead even

So are you predicting that Joe is going to be successful here? Is that the big picture? If so, how does the general unpreparedness of our team not worry you? Does it not concern you that at least once a game we have to use a timeout to correct too many men on the field? And too many times that timeout has been needed right after a stoppage of play? I don’t understand what people are seeing that is giving them hope about Joe. You don’t seem to understand that most aren’t upset about Joe trying to get players for his offense. It’s the fact that he looks like he’s in over his head.

I have no idea. But I'm going to support him for at least 2 years before declaring him incompetent, especially since I know some people who've done some coaching and know a little about what goes into it. It doesn't always go just right.

I support him and the program. That can still be done and admit we made a mistake with him. Admitting that does not mean I want the program to suck. He’s just not a good coach. Can you please tell me what keeps you holding to hope?

The bigger picture is trying not to lose what we built the last 9 years with Mullen and what we came out of. Then of course staying in the top half of the SEC. this is the SEC allowing decline is what gets you in the gutter really fast. It’s not wrong to hold us to a high standard and want us to progress rather than regress. It’s also not wrong to hold a coach accountable and want him to do better. It’s also not wrong to call him out or give an opinion to think he doesn’t have what it takes based on the sample size we have been given. You are entitled to your opinion of wanting to give him more time and thinking he is a good coach that will eventually get it. I just disagree with you and that I think we would be better off with someone else for our program. Someone that lives up to the blue collar he claims to be. Someone that understand what will work at MSU. Someone that will bring the lunch pale and hard nosed offense an attitude that it takes to stay in the top half of the SEC and someone that understands our recruiting base.

All of your points are fair except that Mullen built some great program. The guy averaged 7.1 regular season wins per year. He wasn't some irreplaceable titan.

At the end of the day, for me, it's just a positive/negative thing. He's going to be here until at least next year, and that's true even if we hit a disaster. May as well be positive and hope we can attract some good recruits.

He turned us into respectable program whether you want to believe it or not. Name how many coaches that have come to MSU and kept us in the top half of the SEC. there is a reason other programs wanted him to come there. To rebuild or build programs and develop players and bring a productive offense that is proven to work in the SEC.

You being positive on a message board doesn’t have near the effect if any on a recruit than us lookin like we don know what we are doing on the field.

He did nothing Jackie didn't do, and thankfully we didn't allow him to stay and wreck the program (which he was barreling towards).

Mullen looked much better compared to Croom. End of story.

Hey man, we disagree. You're right, let's just leave it at that.

Let me try to sum up what I have read in every other thread since Saturday. so bear with me…

  1. Joe has some serious problems with this team this year. I think we can all agree on that.
  2. We all are frustrated with what we have seen on the field.
  3. We are not going to shitcan our coach in September so continually bitching in every thread, every day is going to accomplish nothing. We get it. We know who hates him.
  4. In return, trying to pain everything as rosy in over thread every day is not to do that much either. He has not proven anything except he can recruit very well.
  5. Neither side is going to give in
I’m off the JoMo Wagon BUT I am still on the player wagon and am waiting to see what they can do by the end of the season. I am hoping these guys can do something about their play by season end to improve things.

I will say you folks wanting us to completely tank in hopes of getting rid of Joe are not looking at the big picture. That would do much more harm than good, especially with our recruiting class. Do you really want our team to look like Ole Miss or Arkansas in a couple of years? ‘Our coaching may not better than them but our team has some good young talent, some playing already, others redshirting.

So, I point all of this out to propose we have one daily thread for you guys to ***** at each other. Keep it in one thread so we can discuss other sports things.

Just a suggestion.

Agree with pretty much 100% of this. Although I have not seen anyone hoping we tank to get rid of the coach.

That’s 17ing moronic.

By the historical standards of our program Dan Mullen absolutely was/is a titan. Irreplaceable no. Titan yes.

And even more threads of posters saying we are going to win 9 or 10 games this year.
Present them, please. I'd like to see all the threads from this summer of most, or even a large percentage of, posters predicting 9 or 10 wins. I must have missed them at the time.

Nobody has said Dan Mullen was Knute Rockne. You bringing up Sherrill proves my point even more. We had an identity and a culture of toughness and commitment under Sherrill. We had a similar culture under Mullen. We don't have that now. That is a big issue that transcends wins and losses.

This was never a Mullen vs. Moorhead debate. It's more about the type of football team we are now vs. what we were then.
