Did the Auburn player commit a foul? yep
Was the Virginia player in the act of shooting? yep
Verdict: FOUL!

Attention the fix was in,there was no way that the NCAA was going to let auburn win, with all the controversy with Bruce Pearle and the team, no freaking way was auburn getting a call there way at the end!!!!

Double dribble has replaced traveling as the most ignored violation in basketball. Foul call looked correct but the no-call on the double dribble was horrible. It’s not like the defender even reached for the ball, let alone touch it.

It was a foul Stein, what call was he supposed to get? It wasn’t a “fix” when it was the correct call

Not right to make calls based on the stage of the game. Just call them like you see them, in line with the stated rules, all the time.

But that call was inconsistent with the way the game was called all night. If they officiated the same in that last 1.5 seconds as they had done all night then auburn would have won. Refs usually loosen up on the way they’re calling games in the last few minutes so as not to influence the outcome. That happens all the time. But tightening down in the final seconds and calling something you’ve let go all night? That’s a screw job.

Here’s the deal, no matter what game it is, you can always go back and say this or that should have been called. There is no doubt that according to the rule, it was a double dribble. But Auburn was trying to foul him at the same time and grabbed his jersey. They didn’t call that either. So technically you could say they missed that call before the double dribble even happened. So really, there should have been a foul called, then there should have been a double dribble called, and I believe they got the call correct on the three point shot. He makes contact with the players leg, throwing him off balance, with the ball still in his hand. I’m not sure how to add a photo but I have pretty good shots of both instances I’m talking about. No matter how we slice it, someone will always be upset in a situation like that.

I don’t like Auburn but you cannot bail a team out like that!

I was pulling for Virginia but that shirt to shirt contact on the 3 point shot should never have been called. Got to let the kids play and keep the refs out of the game.

The replays correctly showed that the Auburn player's body pushed into the Virginia 3-point shooter's legs before and as the ball was being released. Initial (camera) angles did not show the foul. Subsequent ones did.

I couldn't care less about either team, so I have no emotional leaning.
1. "The fix was in" is laughable. If the NCAA told the refs to make sure Virginia won, they wouldn't have waited until the final 1.5 seconds in the game to start "fixing".
2. It was a plain double dribble. There was a ref right there. He was anticipating a foul by the defender and failed to see a clear call.
3. Auburn should not have called a time out, Auburn should not have fouled intentionally with 1.5 seconds left and the ball only at half court. It gave Virginia time to plan.
4. The final shot/foul was, at best, a light foul. The defender should have been smarter, but at the same time, a light foul like that should not have been called. Kind of like in football, where a holding or a pass interference call could be made on every play if you call it tight enough.

My guess is, if we were in the exact same spot Virginia was and it was Roby instead of Guy, everyone claiming that was not a foul would be screaming their bloody heads off if it wasn't called.
