There are about 25 houses on the south end of campus. It essentially looks like a neighborhood, but they all have MSU signs that say "Center for _______". For 20 years, I have seen them, but don't really know the purpose of them. Are they part of a curriculum? Are they for student support? Are they for faculty? What gives? Only a few of them have enough parking for more than 5 cars.

Most are old faculty houses that have been converted into offices. They house random departments like Internal Audit, Environmental Health & Safety, Research Compliance, etc. they moved departments out to the houses because they ran out of room on other parts of campus.

There are a few parking lots in the area. There’s a decent sized dirt lot across the street from the Oak and Magnolia dorms.

I work in one of the houses, AMA.

That was my neighborhood growing up from 1970-1978. I lived on Morgan Ave. , and my pals lived over on Magruder. A wonderful place to live as a young kid, and so many places to go/ things to do. Slowly became offices for random parts of the Admin., but a few are still for faculty. The old pool next to the tin gym, Handball courts, Girls dorms, Streakers, Stealing doughnuts early am from the DP.....the list goes on.

Some are offices as others have mentioned but some are still short-term housing for newly-hired faculty and staff.
