Looking at a road trip to Madison. Anyone have thoughts on camp Randall? Taking our rig and hoping to tailgate.

Just stay away from frat row.
This. Stay in well-populated, visible areas. The trouble I've had has always been on the streets a couple of blocks away from Camp Randall.

It can be a fun road trip if you avoid the d-bags. You'll definitely get a little rougher treatment on State Street than visitors do in downtown IC, but it's a good time.

Never had any issues. People will occasionally yell something at you, but nothing that ever got me too wound up. My sister in-law was a Wisconsin season ticket holder, so I’ve been to 5+ Iowa games in Camp Randal. I always sat in the same seats, so it could be worse in different parts of the stadium. I always drank before and after on state street and never had a problem.

Take a U-turn as soon as you hit the highway and go right back to home or the nearest Hawkeye Bar… nothing but nighttime’s going to that dump….. fans (especially the students) are obnoxious and just flat out disgusting disrespectful humans… So many stories from the 80’s and 90’s about that road-trip … and I am not exaggerating on this as I am sure many Hawkeye fans have experienced total **** from these fat bozo’s

The last game I was at in Madison was the Ron Dayne game. A good time, especially post-game on State Street but then everyone was in a festive mood due to the record being broken.

We sat in the "Iowa" section, upper deck endzone, and I sat next to a 90 y/o Wisky fan. There were 10 of us, we had a bottle of Schnapps we were sharing back and forth. When the bottle got to me I took a shot and passed back. That little old lady elbowed me in the ribs and said "are you going to share that with me?" CSB

This is the same thing retarded homer wisconsin fans say about kinnick. And idiotic cyclone fans say about kinnick.
Camp Randall is a great trip for a game OP. Idiots like the poster above scream at kids that wear opposing gear.

I have had mixed experiences. Usually lots of rude comments. Some people that were fine and just joked around. I try to abide by the typical away fan rules. I don't say anything negative towards the home team or rip on their fans. Again, can't say it was awesome but not as bad as others said.

I read through some of the replies to your post and I have had a couple of friends run into some bad Wisky fans up there. But overall we have enjoyed our trips there to watch the hawks. The 2003 game was especially fun with the last second goal line stand.

I assume they will be 3 - 2 when they play us. So maybe a little air out of the fan base there.

I was there in 2005 for Barry Barry Alvarez's last game. We got down 10-0 in 1st quarter and then shut them out the rest of the way to win 20-10.

Have visited every multiple times when the Big 10 was 10 teams. We had the worst times at Wisconsin. Lots of "FU" from Bager fans when we were dressed in our Iowa gear and sitting colose to students. Stay away from Frat houses on way to stadium as language was not good etc. Our last trip to Madison was about 10 years ago when I was 67 and I decided that was it for visiting Madison. Hope you have a good trip and Hawks win!

Just need to do the camera phone thing like you see at everything now. Record them frat boys with their behavior and foul language

Luck of the draw, perhaps. I've been there 5 times and have not encountered any problems with the fans. For me, it's always been a great Big Ten football atmosphere, and I've enjoyed it every time. I would go again. I may even go this year, schedule permitting.

yep. had full beers chucked at me.

I had a lot of fun there as a little kid in the 80s. Later..not so much.

other things I remember. Buying drugs was easier than buying scalped tickets.

The ushers were dicks about getting to your seats and not wandering around too much.

But that was mid 90s and might have changed. Great food. Great town.

I’ve been three times…. Nothing in the past decade. But the old days the trips to Madtown were a lot of fun. Great bars. That place really does rock when the crowd gets into it! They have done a nice job with their remodel a few years ago.

Got kicked out of state street brats for bringing a beer bong in and bonging spotted cow then double storied beers from the frat house.

My wife and I may go to the game on the way to see the Packers game on Sunday. I'll make a decision based on the game time. When I lived in Wisconsin in the early 80s there more Iowa fans than Wisky fans there. Any one have suggestions on where to park if we go?

Been there for a number of great games over years ..all Iowa wins..cept for the streak-breaker in 99....so good experiences.

Badger fans might be salty if they are losing many games coming in and hawks handle them.

Ahh yes. The coach Dave McLane years I believe.
Right before Alvarez showed up.

Edit: Don Morton maybe?

I went there a few years ago, great experience (except for the game, we got blown out). Fans were great, loved the jump around!
