the NBA literally had a ref go to jail for fixing games despite the league's insistence on banning gambling. he did it, got caught doing it, confessed to doing it & told everyone who wanted to hear all the details about doing it.
multiple books, documentaries, etc., in addition to a judge saying 'guilty' on the subject of competitive integrity being completely out the window for decades in the league had seemingly zero impact on the league's ability to continue & grow rapidly
this all happened in the 2000s. nobody cares. the NBA has never been more popular or profitable.
it should not only be perfectly legal to bet ON YOUR TEAM TO WIN, it should be encouraged!
