Calling Results to the Newspaper

Why do many coaches refuse to call results of their games to the newspaper ? I recall back in the days "before cell phones", almost every game was called into newspaper.

I have always said if a game doesn't get called in, the coach should be suspended the next game.

I feel your pain. It wasn't too many years ago that all the Friday night football games would go on until their usual 9 or 9:30, but bright and early the next morning, the local papers would have complete stories, including all the stats and scoring. In these days of improved technology, I cannot understand why that still cannot be done.

I remember the bus stopping at a pay phone, back before cell phones. Coach or Assistant coach would get off bus and call game into all the newspapers. Now, with everyone having a cellphone, very few games get called in.
