My sincere hope is that Cal stays another decade and brings home another title or two. Future coach may not even be on the radar yet, but will have to be able to handle the pressures of the job 24/7/365. UK job is not for the meek, introverted, or thin skinned.

I think we go with somebody who has spent time in the league in addition to having some college experience...it has worked out for us twice now...

I live close to Murray State and I really like Steve Prohm, I think he will have a lot of success but I would not want to see him at Kentucky. This job requires too much BS and celebrity for a down to earth man like him. He is a great coach.

Cal is showing everyone the blueprint in what it takes to be the 'Ambassador' as well as the coach at UK. Someone that isn't a 'people person' (like Greg Marshall, for instance)....might as well cross them off the list.

Bruce Pearl? Yeah I know, he comes with baggage and he did that stint at UT but he can coach, recruit and most of all...he has the charisma that it takes at UK. Alot of good coaching candidates out there but not many that can withstand the expectations of the big blue nation.

I agree with you! B Pearl does have baggage, most coaches do. According to the record he did retract his lies a short time after he told them. In retrospect, the infractions at UT pale in comparison to UNCheat and Da Vile. I do like Pearl's energy and passion for the program that he coaches. I guess I could be uber excited if I made millions a year......I am happy as a fat tick on a long haired dog making much less.

It takes a special kind of coach to understand the program. It pushed Sutton on over the edge. Billy G couldn't do it. With today's social media...as someone else said, "Cal has laid out the blue print".

After that I agree it will be someone coming back from the league like Stevens or Billy D.

I actually like this idea. Granted, Kenny will probably end up a head coach sometime soon, but if and when Cal does leave, I would not be at all surprised to see Kenny come back. Granted, of course, his performance as a head coach wherever he ends up is worthy!

I go along with some others who feel Cal will be here another 10 years and then call it quits. He will/may have achieved some pretty big things by then (multiple titles, possibly catching or passing UCLA, piles up substantial win totals, etc.) and retire as a UK legend. As for who may take over for him, I don't have a clue in thinking that far ahead and like awf, I don't want to rush the years away that fast. Kenny Payne would have to get a head coaching position somewhere else and prove himself first before ever being able to take over at UK. If he did that and had success elsewhere then I would say he would be a great choice. Other possibilities may still be proving themselves over the next decade and I can't possibly foresee who the real choices might be by that time. Let's all enjoy Cal and the ride he will yet take us on for awhile first and then worry about a possible replacement. Hopefully, not for at least another 10 years.

All those names are nice. However, the real coach is likely right here on the rafters. I mean look around after a loss there's some guys who could see into the future and predict plays, fouls, defensive sets, etc that would certainly guarantee undefeated seasons for years on end! Cal cant even measure up to some of the posters here!

In all seriousness, it likely doesn't matter as the guy will not live up to the expectations we have become accustomed to with Cal. The bar has been set (or needle as cal says) at a very high place. Let us enjoy the time we have with Cal and we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Donovan had back to back nc's and uk had ten loss tubby. Billy was recruiting 5 stars while uk was losing out on kids to prep school.

Granted I was being dramatic, but at that point uk needed Donovan more than the other way around. That's why anyone who moans about cals success here just needs to go back 10 years.

Whomever follows Calipari at Kentucky is doomed for failure. Calipari has created such high expectations of filling rosters with one-and-done talent, that whomever follows, even if he wins at a high rate with average rated players will be run out of town. Heck, think about it. Calipari says he's about getting players to the NBA and not winning championships at Kentucky and you all give him a pass. Before Calipari got to Kentucky, you would have run any other coach out of town for much less.

That said, I don't think you all have to worry about that for a while. Calipari is still young, relatively speaking. Should be in Kentucky for the long haul.
