I can't remember Darnell ever starting. I can't believe you have placed him as one of the top 25 players to play for Cal. I wouldn't put him in the top 50

It's funny. The only small forwards under Cal that did much were Miller, MKG, and Young. And Miller was already here. Otherwise it's been power guys playing the 3 like Poy or a taller shooting guard like Booker. It'd be nice to have a solid 3 in his natural spot like Bridges or Isaac in the '16 class.
I would rather have a 3 that can handle the ball and pass like a guard than a true SF.
What made MKG great was that he could handle the ball and pass like a PG combined with the size of a forward.
It helped that we also had Davis, Jones and Miller, big guys that could handle and pass like guards as well.
Those guys aren't easy to find. We probably never see that again at UK, at least not to that extent.
Most teams are better off with a big guard than a small forward at the 3, IMHO.
Many of the recent champions have been three guard teams. Duke(Jones/Cook/Jones), UofL(Siva/Smith/Blackshear), and UConn(Walker/Napier/Lamb) have all won titles with a big guard at the 3.
It is a lot easier to find a 6'5-ish guard that can handle and pass to play the 3 than a 6'7-ish forward that can handle and pass to play the 3.
If we get another MKG, then great. I just don't think there are many of those guys.
As for Bridges, he's more of an undersized PF than a SF. If he improves his perimeter skills, he might be it.
Isaac might be the 3 you are talking about. I think he has the skills. He also has the length to play the 3 or 4.
Isaac is exactly the small forward I'm envisioning. If Cal feels like Bridges has a place on the team, I'm all for it. But Isaac has the handles and shot of a guard with the length of a forward. He's the one I'm hoping for.
