I am not one of the "Cal can't coach" crowd. He obviously does very well with most of the guys we get. But, I did see a stat earlier today that said Cal was 1-11 in the last 12 road games against ranked opponents. And with stuff like that making the rounds you can see how the opposition use it to recruit against us.

Yes but, the youth factor really does factor in. It takes some experience to deal with the hostility of away games.

He was different tonight. He had a short leash, he subbed more effectively, he benched guys who were not doing what he wanted quickly. He used time outs way more effectively.

Exactly what he doesn't do sometimes and people wonder why.

I witnessed a coven of the whiny wimpy Cal haters on this board slowly skulking back to their hole as the Cats rallied from 17 points down with 17 minutes to go. Their silence was deafening. But, we know they will be back. Like hyenas circling after another animal kills its prey, they wait with bated breath to spew forth their cowardly anonymous rants.

THere was a time in which cal took a perinial loser to the final four. The man isn’t a helluva coach with or with out the top talent. If you didn’t pay attention in the 90s cal built úmass into a juggernaut. UMASS!!!

I grew up in the 90's. To my generation who followed CBB during that time, I was amazed when I found out Umass wasn't a powerhouse. All Cal.

UMass. Memphis. And brought us back from the hell that was BCG.

Cal can coach. He can be too stubborn for his own good at times, but he can coach.

Outcoached Huggy Bear tonight.

Duke loses. UNC loses. We comeback from oblivion on the road against a Tope Ten team. What a night!

This could be a very, very good team by mid March if they play together and stay healthy.

How many coaches have better than a. 50/50 record on the road against top ten teams? Sheesh! You can manipulate stats to give a myopic and false narrative to anything.

Duke woke up a sleeping giant, IMO.

The decision to start double teaming Carter was huge...got the ball out of his hands. And, Knox is 9-12 on 3 point attempts since the newest "tweak" in which Cal said the players will start shooting better. He may have issues at times during games, but no other coaches could institute a tweak and actually get it to work with freshman. I fully expect Coach K to try to copy the tweak as his next copycat move.

Cal just rolls the ball out there...
