Earlier this year Northwestern students were harshly admonished for their language toward opposing players

I thought that when schools sit students behind the team benches, there is usually a couple of rows of buffer behind the visiting bench, where in this case, RU fans would be sitting. Either way, not a good situation and probably needs to be rethought.

And this is why I like NOT having students sitting in the center of the court, behind benches, and on TV. While this happened at PSU this could easily be us right now as I wouldn't put it past any student body.

Yep the rest of the Big Ten does it like this. The away fans sit right behind the bench, even if in a sea of students. PSU basketball is small time, and instead put the RU fans another section over into the endzone

It's idiotic where our student section is. How many schools in conf with this setup? I think Wisconsin has boomers behind the benches also.

How many schools in conf have 8,000 seat arenas? The student section setup at Rutgers is fine. There would also be a lot of ugliness if our students sat in sections 111 and 112.

And I think the role of alcohol is grossly overrated. People in general and students in particular are very capable of boorish behavior at sporting events without being drunk.

Sadly, the F-bomb is a very common part of too many people's language.
Even many females use it regularly.

The N-word is at an entirely different level of offensiveness.

I agree that F-bombs are common place not only at sporting events but everywhere in general. Now with PSU fans using the n word it is Pennslytucky rearing its ugly head.
