I agree with 90% of what you're saying - which makes it all the more remarkable how often he has top 5 (or close to it) squads by March. And it's not like he doesn't win games when he gets there. If the outcomes, over the whole span, are up to par in terms of raw numbers, then why pull your hair out over the continuity issue?

Well, I’m not really pulling my hair out. In the 70 years of NCAA tournament prior to Cal’s arrival (1939 which was the first year of the tourney to 2009) we had 7 titles, or exactly one every ten years. Cal got ahead of the curve by winning one fairly quickly, so technically as long as he wins another by 2029, he’s upholding the UK standard. That said, a player like Tshiebwe doesn’t come along very often so I’d like to see us capitalize on it.

No, it isn’t a bow-wrapped gift. But here’s the thing: you can’t view the one-and-done era through a historical lens.

Do you remember in ‘17 when Fox and Bam were bawling their eyes out in the locker room after the UNC loss? For decades, that type of emotional pain (not to mention just the experience of playing in a regional final) could have helped form the foundation of a future champion. It often did.

Now, you get one shot with each roster. One.

Am I saying it is realistic to expect a championship? Of course not. The odds are ALWAYS against it, no matter who you are. I’m simply saying that with so little continuity, all the eggs get put in one basket every season. So when a team falls short, it’s magnified. By the way cowboygumboots I’m not going to bother responding to your post as well because it would be the same response.
EXACTLY!!!!

I distinctly remember the 77 team and the 95 team using the loss in the Elite 8 to fuel both teams fire to win it all the next season for both. Ironically, it was a loss to UNCheat both years. Just think what kind of season we would have had in 2018 coming off that loss to UNCheat if Fox, Bam and Monk would have returned? I say we would have hung #9.

But we are in a different era now, so by using the transfer portal, hopefully we can retain enough players to build more experienced rosters that return with more fire.

Point number 2 is so absurd. You must be joking? Most teams with a legitimate chance to win the national title don’t “get the job done.” Usually there are around 8 or so teams with a legit shot to win it all, and almost every single one of them loses. Open the window up reality is right outside
Yeah, that was ignorant.

Today said "dont read and dont listen" to people who want to be negative about the program and he said the other day he isnt worried about "lambs" because he is a lion. Also that fans should ignore people who think their bgger than the program, I still think this is about Matt Jones and their falling out.

I have read on here before that Matt and Cal had a falling out last year and its no secret that Cal doesnt go on that show anymore, you never hear him on there.

You read it on rafters, so it must be true. Matt has talked about it on the radio, so I'm sure anyone posting about it on here tried to regurgitate whatever he said on the issue.

For all of you fanboyz who don't think Cal cares about public perception, here is an embarrassing moment:

I remember when this happened live. Francesa had just interviewed Cal and when Cal got off the line Francesa remarked how Cal wasn't a great X's and O's coach, two minutes later he gets the call from "John in Kentucky."

FWIW they have a relationship dating back to when Cal was coach of the Nets and he would hire randos to call-in to Mike and the Mad Dog and rant about how great a coach Cal was and how no one appreciated him etc.

Cal is definitiely on the offensive after what people said last year and I know Matt says he is talking down to fans but it seems to me like he is taking shots on the media. When Cal says "people who think their bigger than the program" and "have an agenda" it feels like to me that he has a problem with KSR and Matt? Maybe I am crazy.

So who were you before you were banned and made a new account?

He was on KSR in September before the season started. Talked for 20 minutes.

I believe Cal when he says he doesn't read anything (maybe here and there). He has someone keep up with the stuff and fills him in though.

We know his daughters do. So maybe they pass stuff on. No idea about Brad but he's the right age to care about social media.

Cal could take Jones out with just one punch
and he sure does likes to talk about a whole bunch
It's my work he'd say ,to get them to the NBA
It doesn't matter here if they never even play
He knows what’s best leave all worry for the rest. Our players try to get a ring before going cha ching. Maybe it’s best they go after all the riches than to stay around here with so many ________

Has anyone noticed that every caller on the KSR postgame show is like the worse callers ever? They make no sense and they just repeat the same thing or just say how much they love Matt and how he changed their life by having the show.
So dumb
Haven’t listened in a while and now I know why.

If you haven’t listened in a while how do you know. Also the callers are mostly drunk people who make little sense

I tuned in after the game, Jones was talking about taking the air out of the ball down the stretch. Called it the 'Cal Corners' :p

Very few are good at calling into radio shows tbh. I worked for one as a producer years ago and occasional host. I'm not saying people don't know anything, or don't have valid points. I am saying that they struggle to communicate fluently on the air and often get "caught in the moment" or "choke" when trying to explain why they called.

I would say 10-20% are able to articulate what they mean and debate with reasonable success.

Cal 100% hates Matt Jones’ guts. I mean who wouldn’t if they were Cal? He can’t stand the fact that matt acts like everything he says is gospel and that all Kentucky fans should feel the same way he does. He also will never forget what Matt said the year before he took the Kentucky job.
