Cal/UK didn't deserve it.

The game last night was lost mainly at the free throw line, IMHO. Also, as Bass said, our players panicked last night in the waning minutes of the game. Having no senior leadership killed us. Have to give K State credit where credit is due: their defense was great, and they simply wanted it more than we did.

As to Cal, count me as one who appreciates him recruiting highly rated players, but it's a double edge sword. The really good ones stay one year and leave. I'm growing tired of a rotating team, year after year, especially when these highly rated recruits haven't gotten us but one title, and were it not for Davis we wouldn't have that one, IMO.

The best teams are balanced and have senior leadership, and that's the way Cal needs to work on balancing his team, again, IMHO. Having some of these guys back next year is a good first step.

This isn't close to being on Cal. He made some mistakes but the play of SGA and PJ's free throw shooting cost us this win. Cal has always said if you can't make FT's down the stretch he can't play you. Well PJ should have been on the bench the last 3 minutes. He fouled out 3 players almost by himself and he was 8-20 FT's. Just embarrassing.
If pj is on the bench at all the last 3 minutes we arent even in a position to have a shot to tie...pj was the only guy who fought and played through the physicality the whole game. Without him we lose by 10+

PJ was without a doubt our most active player last night and I agree we aren't close to winning without his production, but the way he was shooting FT's last night Cal should have sat him on the bench the last couple of minutes. As small as K-State was at the end of the game we could have easily posted up Knox inside, heck even Diallo could have posted up as small as they were. With PJ it almost got like hack-a-shaq. With each miss from the line that hoop started looking like a wedding ring to PJ.

If you can't beat a garbage middle of the pack Big12 team, you don't deserve ****.
Cal has some VERY REAL coaching shortcomings. Anyone who doesn't see that doesn't understand basketball.
Well Cal has at least one player coming in next year who can hit a step back three and I hope he uses him enough during the season so that he can have someone to depend on for last second shots! I really don’t know of anyone on this team who I would want to take that shot at the end.

Hold your breath until espn reports that Kansas state is the worst team of all time through the week like they did the week before.

I dare you.

While I somewhat agree with this the f**king bs foul call on Hami on the FT in which the got 2 FTs turned the game,, that mfing old ref the made that bs callshoukd have his certification pulled!!
That call to me was huge. Horrible call. We had just taken the lead. I know a lot of people are complaining about bad calls but this one was ridiculous and a momentum changer.

if there is a silver lining to this, its had we "overachieved" and made it to the final four, I don't think we were beating Duke or Villanova

and the end result would have been NBA scouts projecting higher value on our guys for being a final four team. While I don't expect it to make a huge difference, the "potential" for our players has been put in check a bit and will be looked at with a fresh set of eyes on what this team actually did accomplish - which with no SEC team left in the tourney, won't be regarded as very much.

YMMV

I was thinking the same. Lose close game in Sweet 16 or get blown out in Final z
