Great take. We peaked too early last season and got derailed with nagging injuries.
Most of you “Cal Haters” are a bad reflection on the program. Is Mark Few and Hubert Davis vilified by their fanbases right now?
I support UK, win or lose, regardless of who the coach is.
I do believe the vitriol group is the minority, just the loudest right now.
You are right I hate Calipari

Supported worse.

Keep wishing him away. Remember how fans wanted Tubby gone and then got BCG. There is always worse than what you got.

Mitch did hire BCG. Do you trust him with a hire again?

About 95% of college coaches make adjustments through out the season to plug holes or in other words make their teams better. It's called coaching.

The record vs ranked teams is worrisome but going 0-2 this season is not the end all just yet. Still extremely early. This team is no where close to peaking which is not a bad thing in November and December.

Will support the team as long as there is a team out there. No matter who is coaching. Cal spoiled us early. His record speaks for itself. He made UMass and Memphis winners. He had this a juggernaut early, but be patient. We will be fine.

I don’t understand how we have fans that are defending the current state of our program.

We’ve had a 9-16 season and had people whining daily afterwards to give Cal a “mulligan”. Had a mod that year dogging our own fanbase because he wanted Cal to have a “mulligan”. Worst season in Kentucky history but Cal didn’t deserve any criticism according to some Cal fans on here.

Starting the 2019-2020 season we’re ranked number one in the country and lose in rupp arena to Evansville. According to some he didn’t deserve criticism for that either.

Last year we lose to St Peters with a team that many were picking to win the tournament. Some of you made excuses for that ****. SMH it’s easy to follow the pattern here.

This year we lose to a Michigan state team that is now 7-4 in the champions classic. Speaking of that tournament in the last 6 basketball seasons including this one, we have a record of 1-5 in that tournament. Throw in there a 34 point loss to Duke in one of those games. But… Cal don’t deserve criticism for that either according to some.

It’s common sense that Cal has been terrible lately and it shows how ridiculous it is for some on here to say you’re Kentucky fans when you make excuses for this. Some of you make complete fools of yourselves over it and I’d say when rival fans read our board they get a good laugh at some of your posts. Cal has absolutely got to change and any REAL Kentucky fan knows thats the truth.
What a bizarre post. Rival fans do read this board but what they laugh at is all the dumb posts saying that we are a mid major now, Fire Cal, etc.

How long are you going to hang on?

Cal keeps taking us further into the basement. Everything he built from 09-15, went the other way extremely fast.

His system doesn't work. You can't have a new team every year, there are too many aspects of the game to shore up every year.

Cal spends all season long, every year, trying to plug holes, while we lose game after game.

Our record against ranked teams is flat out embarrassing.

How long are you going to support this guy?
New team every year 09-15. New team next year.

2009-2015 Cal is long gone, we're never going to see that guy again. Is that the Cal you're in love with?

His stuff doesn’t work anymore and the longer he stays here, the further we fall behind. We are now 7 games behind KU for the all-time wins lead. I don't trust Cal to get that back. It's time for him to move on in my opinion.

Well let me ask. With this idiotic fan base, what coach do you think would be willing to come down here and deal with this bullsh*t day in and day out. I'm telling you. When Cal leaves, we take a major step back. And yes, even further than we are now. A new coach is not the solution.
Are u serious? Do you think a coach wouldn’t take this job because he is afraid of what is posted on this board? Wow. If a guy is a good coach he never worries about what other people think. He does his job and wins and the fans love him. Remember Pitino or were you 3-4 years old? What a post. Anyone that replaces cal will be better.

Any "coach" that is worried about what the fans might say, should choose a different profession.

There isn’t a fanbase out there that doesn't critisize. The coach is always the primary target.

That situation was corrected when he dumped Barbee and Justus.

But it hasn't been corrected.

You just said it yourself, he has to have top kids to win, that’s not a coach, that's an agent.

Not only that, but Cal had the top class coming in back in 2020, the Boston/Clarke/Askew class, yeah, how did that pan out?

Look what's happening to duke this year with their top class.

Freshmen based teams aren't going to win in todays college game. I don't know what else you need to see to understand that.

And to say Cal doesn't have top players, is a joke. He has the returning national player of the year, as a senior, on this roster, he has a 3 time SEC assist leader, he has an NBA first rounder (Wallace), he has a second year top shelf 5* center/pf that hasn’t improved a lick (Collins) and he has another 2 guards that are elite college shooters, but we look like garbage.

Take a look at the teams making final 4's and winning titles man, the recipe is right in front of your face. All those teams have veteran players that developed in a system and most of them were 3, maybe 4 star players. Wake up.

NBA potential doesn’t win in college ball. If the Zion/Barrett/Reddish team couldn't get to a FF with K coaching them, John Calipari certainly isn't going to get a group of non generational kids to the finish line.

This stuff is common sense. You can't take short cuts, you have to develop your team, not just go out and get a bunch of rental players.

Jeez man, how do you not see this?

I think some of our fans have been way too locked in on class rankings, but not clued in enough to results on the court. But the last three seasons have begun to awaken the BBN. Calipari won a championship and nobody can take that away. But he hasn't won an NCAA Tournament game since 2019 and we can no longer beat ranked opponents on a neutral floor. In competitive sports, you have to keep up. Calipari isn't. This has happened before to other formerly successful coaches. It isn't a unique story. But it is a big problem now.

You are the one not taking an honest look. But hate on. It doesn't affect what I think for you to have hate. That's your cross to bear, not mine. There's a lot I don't like about Cal and his philosophy of coaching.

But to say a guy with 6 FF's at 3 different schools can't coach is just ludicrous. You're probably someone that thinks Tubby could coach?

And Cal doesn't need grat talent to win. He went to the FF at UMass with 1 first round pick. He went to the FF at Memphis with 2 first round picks. And how about our '11 team? Also FF. How many first rounders on that team?

But don't let facts get in the way of a good rant.
What you and the rest of the sack swingers don't know, cause you don't understand what you're looking at when you watch a basketball game, is he's coaching very differently now than he did at UMass or Memphis. The "dribble drive", also known as open gym these days, was brand new. Now it's time has passed and he clings to it. You hold up the exceptions as some kind of "gotcha". 2011 team was 10-6 in conference. They got hot at the right time, much like Carolina did last year. Now do 2010, 2015, 2018 when the bracket opened up...

And Tubby COULD coach, he just couldn't recruit. He was light years ahead of Cal when it comes to Xs and Os. But you keep waving your pom poms and pretend everything is ok.

Dude hasn't pissed a drop in the last 7 years

What's worse is, he hasn't beaten a power 5 team since the 2017 sweet 16.

What a joke.

4-13 in our last 17 games against ranked opponents. That should never happen at UK.

I'm sure I'll get bashed for this, but while the 4-13 number is obviously accurate... I went back and looked, and we went 1-6 against ranked opponents in the 2020-2021 year. I know that year happened and Cal is certainly responsible for that, but that 1-6 in that season alone really pushes that 4-13 number out. Again, you take that away and a 3-7 record remains, which isn't the slightest bit good either. Just saying that 2020-2021 season really did a doozee to current trend stats.

I just can't put my finger on the problem. Heck, none of us can.

I think the main issues start with the fact he has a new team every year and that can’t be easy to do. But that's not the thing that is stalling his teams.

I know there were a few games where the team clicked last year, but those were track meet type games and we all saw what happened when Barnes made simple adjustments and what happened when teams slowed the pace on us. It was ugly.

It comes down to his offense, it's easily defended, we don't even make defenses think. We never end up with a center trying to check one of our guards and it's set up so each player has to get their own, with no help.

That’s just not going to work. You’re not going to win 6 games in a row in the ncaat with that offense. Not in today’s game and it won't work next year either.

He HAS to change his offense, it's that simple. He’s been running this same trash since he got here and it no longer works, but listening to him on his show last night told me he's not going to change squat. Is what it is.
I meant to mention you first point because that is a big part of it. Cal created that problem of having to shuffle a new team around each year but it still makes his job harder than most and I do give him a little slack for that. But still the things he needs to correct IMO involve bare knuckle coaching things that he should be able to adjust to and affect no matter who the personel is.

Modernizing the offense to use spacing, driving and shooting . . . Using his athletes on the defensive side to create more tempo and transition baskets with trapping/pressure on occasion. In game coaching stratetgies and adjustments, take advantage of (or protect against) matchup issues, change momentum with changing defenses, and just teaching his guys fundamentals of using the triple threat position and ball fakes to attack, stealing a few points off inbounds plays etc. Things like that he can and should be doing each year and it doesnt seem like he does.

College basketball has got weaker not stronger. I havent been impressed with anyone.
All of Cal's teams that had post season success would roll this field of teams.
Nate Oates would have no answer for Wall and Cousins.
The Kansas team that won the title wasnt close to Self's best teams.
Cal can still win his way, i have no problem with "rent a players" as you call them.
The kids Cal has brought to UK have some of the highest entertainment value AND they win.
The key to getting things back on track is letting Antigua and Chin do there thing and leave the portal alone.
If you continue to build teams around portal guys and few 4 and 5 stars , you prob need a new coach.

Cal created the culture of one-and-done here, when that is what you purposely do, you don't get to use it as an excuse.
He mismanaged that team from the jump. He force fed Boston all season so he could get him going and he sat there and watched as BJB me-balled us out of any possible victories we could have had.

Yeah, just like I said in my last post, you don't get to use youth and inexperience as an excuse when you create a culture of youth and inexperience with the main priority being the NBA draft.

Cal isn’t a good enough coach to win anything with less than generational talent, but given the fact that he stats with the one-and-done method, it tells me that winning college games is not his #1 priority. It can't be, Cal isn't stupid, he knows this isn’t the best method gor winning titles.

I get it, that team was awful. Terrance Clarke being out for most of the season didn't help (and Brooks being out for a large portion too), but that team still wasn't going anywhere fast. I know everyone dealt with COVID that year, but there were a lot of good programs that were not good that year in particular. But yes, it's still on Cal for just HOW BAD that year was.

I disagree with all of this.

The first part of it is so ridiculous, it's not worth my time to debate.

But to say the portal doesn’t work, when KU used a guy from the portal at pg to win it all and, ahem, we got Oscar from the portal.

It’s stupid to build an entire team out of portal guys, but you can fill in via the portal. That’s what Baylor did 2 years ago, worked for them.

But I'm not sure why you're bringing up the portal, I never argued for it, I only talked about using 3 and 4 star kids, develop them and put them on the court when they are ready. That’s how you win titles, not this crap Cal is doing.

That team would have been a disaster in a normal year. It was poorly constructed.

None of those guys were top shelf players and Askew isn’t even a bottom shelf player, Cal totally failed when he evaluated those players, then he failed at developing them.

Cal is using Covid as an excuse, but look at Cal university this year, Askew is their starting pg. They’re worse than Louisville.

You can't have a new team every year and expect to be consistently good, it's a recipe for failure and that falls right in line with what's been happening. We are now 7 games behind KU in all time wins. That happened on Cal's watch and the longer he is here, the worse it will get.

You listed the stats for 2010 (E8), 2011 (FF) and 2012 (NC).

So, you're just going to ignore the fact that this isn’t the 2012/13 season we're in right now, it's the 2022/23 season. A lot has happened in 10 years.

The John Calipari we saw from 2009 through 2015, is long gone. We have a guy that is no better than Tom Cren right now and I'm not exaggerating.

From 2018 through today, what Cal has done, is Tom Crean like and you're good with that???

So, you're willing to bet that Cal will win more game in 22/23 through 24/25, than any other coach we could get in here? How much are we betting? This is an easy bet for me. Heck, I don't even think Cal will be here in 24/25.

Your Love for Cal, is blinding you.

You pick any coach in the country for the next 3 years. I'll pick the Cats. Pick one, and how much?
