How long are you going to hang on?

Cal keeps taking us further into the basement. Everything he built from 09-15, went the other way extremely fast.

His system doesn't work. You can't have a new team every year, there are too many aspects of the game to shore up every year.

Cal spends all season long, every year, trying to plug holes, while we lose game after game.

Our record against ranked teams is flat out embarrassing.

How long are you going to support this guy?

Man, what a statement. And what should be a wake-up call to anyone still on the fence over this shitshow that Cal is putting in.
The man makes more per game than most of our fans make in an entire year (except for the internet heroes who make millions and are married to supermodels).
If that isn't enough to make your blood boil, then you're either dead or a U6 fan.

What is the excuse now, is what I want to know.

--His own players.
--No covid year.
--No injuries.
--No unexpected departures after last season.
--Deepest pocket NIL sponsors on the planet.
--Highest salary HC on the planet.
--Returning consensus NPOY.

How much more does he need to beat a single Top-25 opponent on a neutral or home floor?

I had planned on missing this Postgame Show for a Christmas dinner. So I assumed I wouldn’t hear much about the game I was wrong. Being out in Lexington tonight, I think it’s fair to say I haven’t seen the UK fanbase this down on Calipari at any time during his tenure

---------------

Anyone who says the people dissatisfied with Cal are the minority just aren't capable of seeing the data around them.

Yea, he can win some of those fans back over, but the reality at this moment is, the Kentucky fan base is done with Cal.

You can admit it or you can just hope for support in a continually decreasing number of like minded people who live in a bubble oh so close to bursting.

From twitter poster (and I haven't checked but given the current state of the program it seems right)

Calipari by the numbers since signing his lifetime contract:
Overall record: 67-33
vs. ranked teams: 8-15
vs. non-conf.
power 5 teams: 7-11
NCAA Tourney wins: 0
SEC Tourney wins: 1

We are in Gillispie territory now with our coaching numbers - remember him? The guy Cal made fun of when he first arrived?

Next year is why they will hang on. Because that team will make the sweet 16. I really believe they win the weekend round. Which is all you can ask for at this point. I also think they will be a 3 seed team doing it. If Cal can make the sweet 16 he's safe. That has to be the new goal.

I understand they will be young and can't shoot, but will be in the range of 6-13 best team all year long.

That's why they hold on. But that team will not be as good as most hope.

Really just a true picture. But I'll hang on as long as Cal is coach here. I want UK to win. No matter who is coaching. I think Cal's time here should come to an end. But until, and unless, it does I will support him.

Many flaws in your description. This is not a new team. In fact we are better when there is a new team. It means the others were good enough to go and a new crop of promising stars are here to learn. We had these duds for 3 and 4 seasons.

And after '15 is just talking points for haters. '16 was a rebuild year but we had Murray. Very exciting to have him. Skal was a bust. People wanted Cal to play Ulis over Andrew. What did Ulis do in '16?

'17 was a great team. Got cheated in the E8 game. Bam, Monk, Fox!! Oh my!! You didn't enjoy that team?

'18 was a injury filled year. But look at Knox. You didn't enjoy watching him play? The improvement of SGA over the season? Doesn't fit the narrative of Cal ruining players. PJ Washington?

'19 turned into a great team by season's end. Lost in overtime to Auburn for the FF. Hagans coming out party against UNC. Didn't enjoy that? How the way Cal ruined Herro?

'20 was another great team by season's end. Quickly was SEC POY. Another guy ruined by Cal and his system of not getting shooters open. WTF? Covid robbed that team of it's chances.

'21 was just flat awful. No one disputes that. But it's an aberration. Not a trend.

'22 was very good season. We were a 2 seed. We got upset. Oscar another player ruined by Cal into National POY.

The story is not written on '23. The first chapters do not look good. I agree with the LOD on that.

The problem Cal has is with his direction now. His mantra since coming here is "players first" and he will get the "best of the best". "If we help them get to their dreams then they will carry us to our dreams".

And he's right on that. The problem is he's not getting us the best of the best or even the above average of the above average. So you can't coach like you have those guys. This is a team with one first round draft pick on it. That's far from the "best of the best".

Cal needs to change to program first or move on.

What grinds my gears (hat-tip to Peter Griffin) even further is they act like it is a binary choice - that either you are all in (Program/Players/Coach) or all out.

While many can get frustrated with players at times (I would never reach out to a player - and give way more grace as they are trying to play within a coaches desires) my loyalty is first to the program - then to the players - then possibly a coach. In this case the coach is failing badly. So for the "all or nothing" Cal fans - some of us can chew gum and walk at the same time... we can support the program and the players and still want a coaching upgrade. In fact - it is because we value the program that we want an upgrade - and make no mistake - upgrading is possible and badly needed. I personally do not, AT ALL, subscribe to the straw man lie that no one would be better for UK than Cal.

What did Ulis do in ‘16? You have got to be shitting me. Dude averaged 17 and 7, and was the SEC player of the year. One of the most beloved players in UK basketball history.

I will wait and see how this year turns out. Last year we were the best team in the country and Kansas was awful this time of year and that worked out well for them. I presume we are trying not to peak early (and we are doing that better than I think anyone could with this team). Also, allow me to thank the online coaches for running Brooks off so Toppin could dominate college basketball.

You really are a dumbass. It was Cal who ran Brooks off because he was convinced useless Toppin would be a draft pick this season.

Great take. We peaked too early last season and got derailed with nagging injuries.
Most of you “Cal Haters” are a bad reflection on the program. Is Mark Few and Hubert Davis vilified by their fanbases right now?
I support UK, win or lose, regardless of who the coach is.
I do believe the vitriol group is the minority, just the loudest right now.

Embarrassing post. When did those coaches have 9-16 seasons? Hubert Davis beat saint peters by 20 points last year in the tournament. What was your heroes result against that team? Mark few beat us by 16 points this year. I mean how crazy are some of you people that you can’t admit Cal has done a bad job recently?

Are we and UNC similar? Underachieving, talented teams that just got humiliated in December. Sometimes those teams answer the wake up call and turn it around.

I don’t see why you Cal fans don’t understand why people are upset. Since Cal got that lifetime contract, he’s done a bad job as our coach. I hope he turns it around, but it’s common sense why people aren’t happy.

I invite you to read my post history especially this whole season. No one has been more critical. I’m just reasonable and not ruled by my emotions.

This divisive **** is toxic. There are a few unabashed cal fans who will argue with all of you until they are blue in the face. Y’all are dumb enough to keep engaging. It’s like watching 2 dumb dogs fight over a bone while there’s a piece of meat lying nearby.
