I like what Howard is doing with Michigan but haven't seen enough yet. Like their play style though.

If we go after anyone it has to be Stevens or Donovan. Maybe Beard but first we have to take a shot at those two. 10 million a year for 6 years.

Cannot say I agree with the list. Author also said Nicholasville was 80 miles from Lexington when refrencing Holtmann.

I would take Baby Pitino before most. Chaps my *** that Beard is a Knight understudy and Oates has indirect ties to Duke.

10. Richard Pitino
9. Greg Gard
8. Chris Mack
7. Chris Holtmann
6. Nate Oates
5. Mike Young
4. Brad Brownell
3. Shaka Smart
2. Chris Beard
1. Scott Drew
No I disagree with most of these.

if not here is my list

Beard
Oates
Musselman
Pearl- baggage is big issue but he’d win big here
Bombshell Go back to Rick and let him apologize for leaving win a title or two and then retire

My Nirvana pick is Oates who has that cockiness will play anyone anywhere attitude and plays a fun style and I believe would have us at the Pitino early days level
Oates gas zero ties to K with his comments he’d be an animal here

I bet our rivals are laughing their butts off at us even discussing another coach at the moment. Most other schools have at least two or three down years before they fire a coach and I hope Barnhart doesn’t cave to the fans making noise and let’s the man fix the problem. And to be honest I don’t have faith in Barnhart to make the right hire anyway. The guy hired Gillespie because he beat UL in Rupp for crying out loud, at least that’s how I remember it.

Never thought of Spoelstra or Vogel but yeah, give em a call
Few
Oates

that would be my order personally. Doubt Cal walks away from the money. But maybe UK could argue Cal is throwing games by playing bad players over better ones? Idk.

So, Scott Drew would be better than Cal? A guy who has been at Baylor 19 seasons, has only 2 Elite Eights, zero Final Fours and has missed the tournament 8 times is a good replacement for Cal?

wow....people here have lost their damned minds. Unbelievably stupid.
Thank you. At least somebody on this board has a brain.

And this happens how often? We are in the thick of it most years and I would bet most of them would take Calipari in a heartbeat. This year sucks so far no doubt but I’m going to give the man the benefit of the doubt.

Stevens is the only 89-Pitino/09-Cal level option available.

Kinda sick of hearing people say that’s a pipe dream when they are only pipe dreaming themselves that anything else would work out. It’s about self-respect.

yea I think that was pretty much the qualifier for hiring BCG

no way Cal gets 3 down years. I agree, he gets this season to tank, but we have a major roster turnover with equivalent talent coming in next year at best - UK needs a change. Cal needs an amazing year next year. He can't have a string of post game comments next year like this year.

Oats does have indirect ties to K. Am nitpicking but follow:

Coached under Bobby Hurley at Buffalo who obviously played for K....barf.

Danny White who was Buffalo AD that hired Oats to replace Hurley when he left for ASU played for Mike Brey at ND...Brey cut his college coaching teeth under K.

All the above said, Oats seems to have a very bright future.
