Before everyone freaks out over Cal not being sure if PJ will play, there’s no way to be sure yet. The plan has been to take the cast off tomorrow or Wednesday, then they will know. Cal’s comment isn’t indicative of anything

Tip time at about 10pm Friday

--5th all time matchup against Houston

--Tom asked again about PJ...cast off tomorrow sometime

Caller: Does such a late tip change the way you prepare?

--The kids dont care but their coach otoh :)

--TV dictates where we're slotted

--Dont wanna change routine

--Did conditioning/lift weights, shooting, TWEAK! based on how Houston plays

--Was on elliptical watching tape of Houston vs Cincy...Cincy played all zone so I had to find another game where they played them man defense

His emphasis on everyone else having to step it up this weekend makes me think that PJ is doubtful for this weekend.

I just don't get a good vibe watching his demeanor on Facebook. JMHO.

Hope I'm wrong.

Even IF PJ is available on Thursday, we shouldn’t expect much of anything from him.

You don’t just run out on the court and pick up where you left off. He will be rusty and not in game shape. You can easily get out of game shape in a few days. And it’s been more than a week.

What rotten freakin luck.

Question: How many points/rebounds do you need from Nick and EJ?

--Need energy from them

--Do NOT leave the rim to block shots

--Play to your training

--Not to opponent or TV

--Play with big energy

--Gonna be a war

--Cant play you if you cant man up in a game like this

--We have 4 days to prepare

--Had call from NBA coach about Herro....impressed because he gave up his offense to shut down their best player

--Tyler wanted to guard him and wore down some

--He made the 2 FT's at the end when we needed them

--Herro has some mental toughness

--Houston's best defender gonna guard Tyler

Question: What coach would you take to Alaska with you?

--Coach Hall

--I'm so blessed to have the former coach help so much

--Most former coaches aren't helpful

I wouldn't say that. PJ is essentially a veteran at this point. If he has a day or two to do some conditioning he'll be fine. Even Reid was decent in his debut back and he missed, what, 6 games?

Caller: How do stack up defensively?

--2 good def teams who play similarly

--We have younger group

--Morant from Murray is special

--Big Schools tried to get him at the last minute but he stayed true to Murray

--So many kids get lied to

--Gonna be #2 pick in draft

--MSU fans got to enjoy him

--Very happy for him and MSU

--My daughter went to Murray for about a week and came home

--I had to carry everything in and out

--How do we defend pick/roll better?

--I play more conservative and try to make it a tough shot and then we rebound

--Gonna be a hard game

--When I was at Memphis we had to play Mich State and TX in Houston

--Talking about D. Rose getting a cut above his eye and our lead dwindled because he had to go to locker room

--Rose did not want stitches..scared of needles

--Sampson done a great job at Houston

Cal: NAIA tourney the greatest...Georgetown in it

Question: Since Reid has been a success will you look at more grad transfers?

--Wofford had one that helped them a ton

--Would definitely consider it after seeing what it has done for Reid

--How about the 2 FT's RT made?

--RT is a great person to be around

--Told the team how much I respect these kids and what they have to go thru

--This team has been great....has added yrs to my life

--I've had a ball this yr

--Last yr was a hard year

---This yr has flown by

--I never have to get on RT for effort

--He had to unlearn some things because he reverts to his Stanford days

--But it's never about effort

Question: Will this be a fast paced game?

--Not sure since they both play good defensively

--Houston #1 in country in scoring defense

Cal says that makes me sick to hear :)

No open practices in KC

Question: Since baker played well, more small ball?

--Maybe...Baker rebounded well

--Gotta get IQ to forget about and play better now

--Baker made those 3 Ft's when we were dying

--Houston's leading rebounder is a guard

--We gotta spend 3 days of blockout drills

--Hard because I dont want anybody to get injured

Why dont we split the screen when they hedge?

--We do split...must be one of the 4 million coaches

--Sometimes they collapse

That's it for tonite

Cal let it slip on PJ he said in reference to running contact drills “can’t afford to lose anyone else bc when you only have 8 guys....”

This tells me he’s planning on not having PJ

The question was why dont we slip more screens when teams give us a hard hedge on pick and rolls. It was me that ask.

Sure as he absolutely must.

It is way easier to inset PJ into the game plan if you have the option than it is to pull the piece off the table and start over from there.

He can't practice at any rate so it is forced to a degree anyway.

He had 8 today and will likely have 8 again tomorrow. If PJ does practice, it'll be Wednesday at the earliest.

And besides, with his situation, you almost have to prepare as if he can't go. It's much easier to throw him in there and run the same stuff you have all year with him. It's not easy to improvise on game day if, for some reason, he can't play.

You have zero facts to base this comment on. If he was shut down they would say he was shut down. It can go either way.

there's no facts to say he's going to play either....... thats why its a guess

Vegas line said 2.5......... which makes me think they think PJ wont play... so my guess is he wont play
